The Platform Engineer (Security) is our first explicitly security-focused hire. In this role you will be an early member of the Platform Engineering organization and help us mature a critical part of Coast. We value speed and flexibility, but accept the need for high standards for compliance and security. Doing it well is critical for our ability to execute.

Working directly with an enthusiastic and invested product team, you will help us stay on top of a wide array of areas, from network security and least-privilege permissions in the cloud to rationalizing our SIEM and code scanning posture, from supply chain security to application security reviews for our product organization. At the end of the day, we want to establish &quot;paved paths&quot; that allow us to minimize friction while ensuring security of our software. The role will work closely with our Product Engineering, and the CTO; this role reports to the Head of Platform.

We are hiring in NYC and the tri-state area only. Our NYC office is located in the heart of Manhattan's SoHo neighborhood, benefiting from its vibrant creative energy. The whole company is in the office on average 4 days a week.

The Platform Engineer (Security) will:

<li>Hold a high bar for security standards and help us establish best practices;</li>
<li>Influence design and implementation of all aspects of our product, by acting as a sounding board and SME for our product managers and engineers;</li>

Compensation

Our salary ranges are based on paying competitively for our size and industry, and are one part of our total compensation package that also includes benefits, signing bonus, and equity. Pay decisions are based on a number of factors, including scope and qualifications for the role, experience level, skillset, and balancing internal equity relative to other Coast employees. We expect the majority of the candidates who are offered roles at Coast to fall healthily within the range based on these factors.

Role Overview</h1>
As an early Deployment Strategist, you&rsquo;ll own the end-to-end customer journey, from initial implementation through adoption and expansion. There&rsquo;s no playbook yet. What You&rsquo;ll Do</h1><ul><li>
Own customer onboarding end-to-end, designing and delivering implementations that align Serval to customer workflows and goals.</li><li>
Conduct training sessions and create documentation that helps customers become self-sufficient with Serval&rsquo;s technology.</li><li>
Design and execute migration plans that minimize disruption and ensure seamless adoption of Serval&rsquo;s platform.</li><li>
Serve as the primary technical resource post-sale, troubleshooting issues and advocating for customer needs internally.</li><li>
Partner with Engineering, Sales, and Marketing to turn customer insights into product improvements and scalable processes.</li><li>
Modify production code to fix bugs and build features to extend the product&rsquo;s capabilities to meet customer needs.</li><li>
Identify and support expansion opportunities by demonstrating additional value and partnering with Sales on renewals and growth.</li></ul><h1 class="jobSectionHeader">
What You&rsquo;ll Need</h1><ul><li>
Degree in Computer Science or a related technical field.</li><li>
2+ years of experience in an engineering role, ideally with close customer interaction (e.g., Product Engineer).</li><li>
Experience investigating production issues by analyzing code paths, database state, API requests and responses, leveraging infra and browser dev tools.</li><li>
Understanding of APIs and RESTful concepts; IAM knowledge; SQL for data analysis; ability to read and troubleshoot production code in customer-facing environments.</li><li>
Deep appreciation for delivering high-quality user experiences.</li><li>

Salaries will vary depending on various factors which include, but are not limited to location, education, skills, experience and performance.
