The pioneering efforts of the Harris Orthopaedics Laboratory have positively impacted the quality of life of millions of patients through innovation since its inception in 1969. The mission of the laboratory is to improve patient outcomes through materials science and clinical research with an emphasis on orthopaedic applications.

Harris Orthopaedics Laboratory is focused on the development of polymeric and hybrid materials for applications in orthopaedics. We are seeking a highly motivated individual for an entry-level research position to support our translational research program in implantable biomaterial development. This position is ideal for new engineering graduates interested in the medical application of basic research and is a great opportunity for those who want to gain some experience before continuing their education in graduate or medical school.<br>

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following activities:<br>

Specific technical functions:<br>
<ul><li>Laboratory formulation including preparation of macromers, polymers, polymer blends, polymeric consolidation.</li><li>Characterization of polymers on-site and local off-site research facilities including drug elution, mechanical and fatigue testing, wear testing, thermal and structural characterization.</li><li>Modification of polymers including outside services such as radiation processing.</li></ul><br>
General laboratory functions:<br>

We are seeking a motivated molecular biology research technician to join the laboratory of Dr. Ruslan Sadreyev at Massachusetts General Hospital and Harvard Medical School in Boston, MA.

Working within a team structure under the direction of the CCI Lab Manager Designee and Supervisor to insure an efficient and high quality specimen-processing environment while providing customer oriented services.</p><p></p><p>
Transfers specimen collected from hospital to collaborator labs using standard and study-specific procedures including processing of blood and other patient specimens in either BL2 or BL2+ lab space. Blood processing responsibilities will include various protocols for separating PBMCs, plasma, DNA and serum.</p><p></p><p>
Collects and/or centrifuges and/or separates and aliquots specimens according to established procedures. Makes sure that specimens are handled in the order of established priority.</p><p></p><p>
Responsible for transcribing all protocols and preparing all required paperwork for both 9A and 9B research units.</p><p></p><p>
Responsible for uploading patient&rsquo;s samples information into database systems.</p><p></p><p>
Labels specimen collection and storage containers. Completes all documentation required for individual specimens according to research protocol requirements and within the guidelines and policies of the CCI Laboratories.</p><p></p><p>
Perform routine specimen analysis using waived/non waived sample testing and record sample results.</p><p></p><p>
Maintains same laboratory instrumentation to performance standards. The BCWM is composed of a multi-disciplinary team of physicians, scientists, and computational biologists who are dedicated to the rationale based, genomically guided drug development for Waldenstrom&rsquo;s Macroglobulinemia, a subtype of non-Hodgkin&rsquo;s lymphoma. The BCWM laboratory utilizes multi-omics to provide insights for medicinal chemistry efforts aimed at targeting pro-survival pathways related to MYD88 and CXCR4 mutation signaling, which constitute the most common mutations found in Waldenstrom&rsquo;s Macroglobulinemia. The BCWM has successfully developed therapeutics currently approved and in use for the treatment of Waldenstrom&rsquo;s Macroglobulinemia. In collaboration with medicinal chemists in our center, and at Dana Farber, we continue to develop compounds targeting key mutation signaling pathways.
