 As a Sunday Intern, you&rsquo;ll be in the thick of it, contributing to the development of hard-hitting stories and features that define our Sunday paper&mdash;whether that means breaking news, in-depth profiles, or captivating features on entertainment and celebrity culture. This is your chance to get unparalleled experience working on some of the most anticipated and widely read editions in journalism. You&rsquo;ll work closely with seasoned Sunday staff reporters to pitch, develop, and execute stories that millions of people will read online. From researching background information and aggregating content to gathering quotes and writing under tight deadlines, you&rsquo;ll be fully immersed in all aspects of Sunday news production -- and have dozens of bylines by the end of your internship. Key Responsibilities 
<ul><li>Editorial Leadership &amp; Oversight: Provide comprehensive oversight for assigned newscasts, including editorial content, story selection, rundown creation, and overall pacing. Ensure adherence to CBS News standards, journalistic ethics, and legal guidelines.</li></ul>
&bull; Strategic Vision &amp; Execution: Develop and implement strategies to enhance newscast collaboration, increase viewership, and expand digital engagement. Identify emerging trends and audience interests to inform content development.&bull; Team Leadership &amp; Development: Lead, inspire, and mentor a team of producers, reporters, and newsroom personnel. Foster a collaborative, inclusive, and high-performance environment that encourages creativity, accountability, and continuous improvement. Conduct regular performance reviews and provide constructive feedback. 
<ul><li>Collaborative Partnerships: Work seamlessly with news directors, managing editors, reporters, anchors, photographers, and technical staff to ensure cohesive and impactful news delivery across all platforms. Collaborate closely with digital and social media teams to maximize content reach and engagement.</li><li>Breaking News &amp; Special Coverage: Take charge during breaking news events and special coverage, demonstrating exceptional judgment, decisiveness, and ability to adapt quickly to evolving situations while maintaining journalistic integrity.</li><li>Quality Control &amp; Brand Consistency: Maintain the highest standards for writing, production values, visual presentation, and on-air performance. Safeguard the CBS New York brand and ensure consistent messaging and tone.</li><li>Performance Analysis &amp; Optimization: Analyze ratings data, audience feedback, and competitive landscape to identify areas for improvement and work with news director to implement data-driven strategies for growth.</li></ul></div><div> 
Qualifications 
<ul><li>Extensive Experience: Minimum of 7-10 years of progressive experience in local television news production, with at least 3-5 years specifically as an Executive Producer or Senior Producer in a top market.</li></ul>
&bull; Proven Track Record of Results: Documented success in growing viewership, improving content quality, and leading teams to achieve goals. &bull; Collaborative Leadership Style: Demonstrated ability to lead by example, fostering an environment of open communication, mutual respect, and strong teamwork. Must be adept at navigating complex newsroom dynamics and building consensus across departments. 
<ul><li>Exceptional Journalistic Acumen: Deep knowledge of newsgathering, storytelling, and broadcast production. Well-developed editorial judgment, keen eye for detail, and impeccable writing skills.</li><li>Strategic Thinker: Ability to think creatively and strategically about news content, audience engagement, and competitive positioning.</li><li>Crisis Management Skills: Proven ability to remain calm and effective under pressure, making sound decisions during dynamic breaking news situations.</li><li>Technological Proficiency: Familiarity with modern newsroom systems, broadcast technology, and digital content platforms.</li><li>Education: Bachelor&rsquo;s degree in journalism, Communications, or a related field.</li></ul></div>

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION 
Hiring Salary Range: $160,000.00 - 185,000.00. 
The hiring salary range for this position applies to New York, California, Colorado, Washington state, and most other geographies. Starting pay for the successful applicant depends on a variety of job-related factors, including but not limited to geographic location, market demands, experience, training, and education. The benefits available for this position include medical, dental, vision, 401(k) plan, life insurance coverage, disability benefits, tuition assistance program and PTO or, if applicable, as otherwise dictated by the appropriate Collective Bargaining Agreement. This position is bonus eligible.
