Position available for a Research Scientist in a neuroscience laboratory (Gandy/Ehrlich) focused on study of neurodegenerative diseases, including Alzheimer&rsquo;s, X-linked dystonia parkinsonism, and Huntington&rsquo;s disease. Applicants should have experience in molecular, cell and/or animal model systems. Experience with informatics is a plus. These projects involve a broad array of well-established techniques, including mouse breeding and genotyping (with assistance from a research associate and outsourcing of genotyping), molecular biology (e.g. CrispR), histology, cell culture including iPSCs, primary cells and cell lines, microdissection of tissues, RNA and protein preparation, and/or other specialized approaches to study neurodegeneration, including a multi-omic approach. 
Responsibilities<ul><li>
Conducts research to develop methodologies, instrumentation and procedures for medical application, analyzing data and presenting findings.</li><li>
Designs and conducts complex clinical research studies requiring the determination and evaluation of alternative methods, computational modeling, diagnosis and treatment.</li><li>
Plans and directs studies to investigate human or animal disease, preventive methods, and treatments for disease.</li><li>
May assist in clinical laboratory operations.</li><li>
Follows strict safety procedures when handling materials to avoid contamination.</li><li>
Teaches principles of medicine and medical and laboratory procedures to physicians, residents, students, and research staff.</li><li>
Confers with health departments, industry personnel, physicians, and others to develop health safety standards and public health improvement programs.</li><li>
Develops treatments and designs research tools and techniques.</li><li>
Explores subject area and defines scope and selection of problems for investigation through conceptually related studies.</li><li>
Develops hypotheses to be tested and methodology for evaluating results.</li><li>
Examines the results of clinical trials and adjusts the dosage levels to reduce negative side effects or to induce better results.</li><li>

Preferred Skills<ul><li>
3-years experience following a PhD in neuroscience, cell biology, pharmacology, immunology, biochemistry, molecular biology, pathology, or related discipline.</li><li>
Evidence for independent skills in molecular biology, and standard immunoprotein methods (e.g., immunoblotting, immunoprecipitation, immunohistochemistry, ELISA) required. Experience with mouse handling, husbandry and genotyping essential to work with Research Associates.</li><li>
Initially, research a topic chosen by the PI, but input from the person in this position is essential.</li><li>
Gather and analyze data.</li><li>

We are seeking a highly motivated Staff Scientist to lead and support the analysis of large-scale molecular datasets in a dynamic, collaborative research environment. This role focuses on cutting-edge functional genomics, with an emphasis on single-cell and multi-omic technologies. 
The Staff Scientist will drive computational analysis of high-dimensional datasets, partnering closely with a well-integrated computational-experimental team to generate biological insights from complex genomic data. The ideal candidate has deep expertise in single-cell transcriptomics and epigenomics, experience handling large-scale datasets, and strong quantitative and programming skills. Experience in machine learning and AI approaches is highly desirable.

The Milton and Carroll Petrie Department of Urology has long been a leader in clinical practice, education, and research. Faculty in our Department, which is housed within the Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai, perform complex procedures using robotics, laparoscopy, and endoscopy, all as a part of our minimally invasive urologic surgery program. We remain equally committed to engaging in breakthrough research while training the next generation of leaders in the field.
Under limited supervision, the Associate Researcher II conducts experiments using advanced techniques specific to the research project. Analyzes and assists in interpreting moderately complex results.
