Position: Medical Assisting InstructorDepartment: EducationReports To: Education ManagerTravel Requirement: May be RequiredPosition Description: Under the direct supervision of the Education Manager your job as an instructor is to provide instruction to students by conveying the curricular content of the program to students through implementation of program objectives as outlined and described in the program syllabus, course outlines and lesson plans. Our instructors provide assessment of students through applicable monitoring and reporting processes. Instructors ensure adherence to all safety standards and practices, including oversight, care and maintenance of facilities, equipment and materials. Our instructors continuously promote all programs by building awareness and understanding of the program requirements among students, vendors, employers and the local community. Reliable and regular attendance required.Essential Functions:<ul><li>Prepare and organize the lesson materials, equipment, and training area.</li><li>Develop training aids and projects relevant to the subject matter taught</li><li>Motivate students to actively participate in all aspects of their educational process</li><li>Deliver approved curriculum to students on a daily basis</li><li>Regular and reliable attendance.</li><li>Perform other duties as assigned by supervisor</li><li>Demonstrate a thorough knowledge of the field or discipline; stay current in subject matter through professional development, involvement in professional organizations, and attending professional meetings, conference or workshops.</li><li>Plan and organize instruction in ways that maximize student learning; employ appropriate teaching and learning strategies to communicate subject matter to students including strategies to meet diverse students&rsquo; needs.</li><li>Select and utilize a variety of approved course materials and teaching methods &ndash; such as using lectures, demonstrations, discussion groups, and seminars - to ensure the needs of the individual students are met in the program, utilizing instructional lesson plans).</li><li>Teach classes as assigned, using the college Learning Management System, as applicable. Explain and demonstrate related laboratory/practical procedures.</li><li>Provide and produce evaluation strategies, along with appropriate instruments to assess student needs and measure academic growth and understanding.</li><li>Immediately report any observed or perceived difficulties in student progress to supervisors and, upon approval, initiate appropriate actions to rectify same.</li><li>Demonstrate evidence of professional growth, academic currency and digital fluency, which includes internet literacy, critical thinking and sensitivity to diversity.</li><li>Participate in other campus activities, committees, and projects.</li><li>Contribute to program and division curriculum development processes. Plan, prepare and deliver quality classroom instruction in lecture and/or laboratory formats based on the approved curriculum.</li><li>Maintain program equipment and facilities in a safe and efficient manner and/or report any equipment malfunctions, deficiencies or safety hazards to supervisor immediately upon discovery</li><li>Ensure that all classes start and end at the prescribed times.</li><li>Maintain a professional attitude and appearance at all times.</li><li>Maintain accurate daily attendance records and communicate any attendance concerns to the Director of Academics &amp; Online Learning /Education Manager.</li><li>Provide students with academic support, tutoring, and skills enhancement as necessary.</li><li>Provide training to new instructors on site and/or other Summit Campuses , as needed.</li><li>Prepare and organize the lesson materials, equipment, and training area.</li><li>Develop training aids and projects relevant to the subject matter taught.</li><li>Motivate students to actively participate in all aspects of their educational process.</li><li>Maintain expertise in subject area through professional development opportunities and continuing education.</li><li>Deliver approved curriculum to students on a daily basis in accordance with course competencies and objectives.</li><li>Provide regular, accurate and timely feedback to students and the school concerning academic, behavior, attendance, etc.</li><li>Demonstrate agility in the online learning management system and provide high-level interaction with students in the virtual environment.</li><li>Maintain an accurate and comprehensive inventory of consumable materials and supplies, while communicating ordering needs to management.</li><li>Other duties assigned</li></ul>Education and/or Work Experience Requirements:Education: Diploma/certificate in Medical Assisting.Experience: Three years&rsquo; experience as a Medical Assistant and shall have the education, background, and occupational experience and/or teaching expertise necessary to teach.
