Performs assigned patient care and observation duties under the direction of a Registered Nurse and/or LPN, including but not limited to: cleaning the patient's room, operating various clinical equipment, helping with emergencies, assisting with patient procedures, collecting and transporting patient specimens and completing applicable forms.</li><li>
Maintains hospital and unit-specific competencies.</li><li>
Assists in emergency situations as directed by an RN/LPN.</li><li>
Ensures that prescribed measures related to hygiene, comfort, and rest are provided.</li><li>
Complies with Standard Precautions guidelines, Infection Control procedures, and safety standards to maintain and promote a clean and healthy work environment.</li><li>
Assists in the use of bag-valve-mask device, anti-embolism stockings, pneumatic compression stockings, oxygen, suction equipment, incentive spirometer, emergency cart and bedside glucose monitoring machine.</li><li>
Operates converter chair, lifts, scales, beds, stretchers, wheelchairs, non-invasive BP monitors, automatic thermometer, sphygmomanometer, pulse oximeter, and computers.</li></ul><div><b><br>
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
</b></div><ul><li>A high school diploma or equivalent.</li><li>
BLS required.</li><li>
Must meet one of the following requirements:</li><li><ul><li>
One year of direct patient care experience,</li><li>
Successful completion of a nursing assistant training course</li><li>
Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) license through State of Georgia, OR</li><li>

Job Responsibilities
<br>Assists in basic delivery of patient care as assigned by licensed professional practitioners, utilizing, and integrating age-appropriate standards, knowledge of growth and development, infection control and body substance precautions, patient safety, and body mechanics.
<br>Completes assigned tasks/orders from providers.
<br>Demonstrates competency during intake process, inclusive of accurate vital signs.
<br>May be asked to demonstrate competency in, but not limited to, phlebotomy skills, simple medication or vaccine administration, spirometry testing, and performing radiographs under the direction of a physician.
<br>Utilizes proficient organization and communication skills in prioritizing, delivering, and documenting patient care.
<br>Performs multiple, concurrent tasks in frequently stressful and fast-paced environments while maintaining strong internal and external customer service standards.
<br>Serves as liaison between patients/families and department staff by greeting patients/families, informing families of delays, relaying messages, and offering assistance/other services families may require.
<br>Performs administrative duties to promote efficient operations, including participating in office opening/closing procedures, answering phones, maintaining waiting room/patient diversion materials, restocking complimentary beverages, and updating wait-time boards.
<br>Understands and complies with infection control, safety, and Occupational Safety and Health Administration procedures and regulations.
<br>Demonstrates competencies that incorporate age-specific guidelines, including N = Neonate (less than 30 days), I = Infant (30 days to 1 year), EC = Early Childhood (1-5 years), LC = Late Childhood (5-13 years), A = Adolescent (13-17 years), AD = Adult, and ALL = all ages.
