The Research Assistant will perform bench work, animal surgeries, collect and analyze data, generate data, prepare manuscripts, and complete animal care tasks. The position will support the Principal Investigator and research team in collaborative projects. The Research Assistant will also assist with laboratory management and daily operations, including maintaining laboratory organization and inventory control. The Research Assistant must be able to maintain compliance with all laboratory safety regulations.</p><p></p><p><b>
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES</b></p><ul>

Assists in data collection and provides feedback on study&rsquo;s progress.</li>
<li>Recruits subjects to participate in the study by using approved methodologies, such as, reaching to healthcare providers for referrals, visiting clinics, sending mailouts, using approved advertisements, etc.</li>
<li>Conducts the enrollment of study participants, including explaining research procedures, and obtaining informed consent of subjects and/or their families.</li>
<li>Schedules appointments of study participants; conducts reminder phone calls and/or sends mailouts. Obtains and distributes payment vouchers for participant reimbursements/participation.</li>

Administrative</p><ul>

Responsible for the administrative aspects of the research study, including: managing program records and handling communication needs of the program.</li>
<li>Prepares and maintains Institutional Review Board (IRB) approvals and correspondence, including amendments and renewals as necessary.</li>
<li>Perform administrative duties associated with the study&rsquo;s Data Monitoring and Safety Board, tracking and reporting adverse events and collecting data specified by the DSMB. Responsible for all other administrative duties related to research activities.</li>

 The Datta Lab in the Department of Neurobiology is seeking a Research Assistant to support research aimed at understanding how Alzheimer&rsquo;s disease (AD) risk genes influence the function of innate immune cells. Our work leverages an interdisciplinary toolkit&mdash;including tissue imaging, single-cell sequencing, and in vitro culture systems&mdash;to elucidate how these cells operate during the late stages of Alzheimer&rsquo;s disease.

 The Research Assistant will perform a variety of laboratory research tasks related to our projects investigating cell&ndash;cell interactions in tauopathy and their impact on disease progression. The work will be performed under specific direction, and the research assistant may be asked to perform familiar tasks independently. The ideal candidate is well organized and motivated, has strong communication skills, and works well with a multidisciplinary team of researchers.

 Typical responsibilities include:

   Handling and maintaining animal colonies, including colony tracking and genotyping.
  </li>
  <li>
   Carrying out behavioral and molecular experiments and research according to protocols given by lab members. This will include basic procedures such as brain slicing using a cryostat, staining for proteins using immunohistochemical techniques, identifying RNAs via in situ analysis, etc.
  </li>
  <li>
   Analyzing data and presenting results at lab meetings and during one-on-one meetings with the PI and direct supervisor.
  </li>
  <li>
   Maintaining laboratory equipment and inventory.
  </li>
  <li>
   The technician may also assist with broad lab support tasks (e.g. ordering supplies) as needed.

The successful candidate will share responsibility for clinical, academic, and administrative leadership of a comprehensive, high‑complexity clinical chemistry service, with an additional significant leadership role in Point of Care Testing (POCT).</p><p>
Experience in<b> clinical chemistry immunoassays, automated chemistry, and the broad applications of point of care instrumentation </b>is necessary.
