We are recruiting a full-time physician assistant (PA) at the faculty rank of Teaching Associate to join our spine surgery service at the University of Washington Medical Center &ndash; Northwest Hospital and Montlake Campuses. The successful candidate is expected to work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary healthcare team and have effective interpersonal skills, leadership skills, and clinical expertise. Our physician assistants are responsible for providing comprehensive orthopaedic care to patients in the surgical, inpatient and outpatient settings. Teaching associates hold annual appointments that align with a 12-month service period (July 1-June 30) and may be reappointed to subsequent annual terms. Faculty with 12-month service periods are paid for 11 months of service over a 12-month period (July-June), meaning the equivalent of one month is available for paid time off. This position has a flexible start date in the spring or summer of 2026.
Salary:
 
The base salary range for this position will be: $10,000 - $14,850 per month ($120,000-178,200 annually) commensurate with qualifications and years of experience as a physician assistant, or as mandated by a U.S. Department of Labor prevailing wage determination. Please note that only compensation provided by the University is included in University benefit determinations and calculations.

About our Central Follow-Up Specialist position
 
The Centralized Follow Up Assistant is a non-licensed member of the clinical and administrative Centralized Follow Up [CFU] team that provides patient follow up management and affiliate health services in accordance with Planned Parenthood policies, protocols, and procedures.
 
What will you be doing!
 <ul>
<li>General: Works in accordance with affiliate Medical Standards & Guidelines [MS&Gs]; provide education and advice to patients within affiliate protocols and scope of practice as defined below.</li>
<li>Test Results: When patients reach out to CFU to request their lab results, the CFU Assistant can notify patients of normal test results (with the exception of Cervical Cancer Screening [CCS] tests and imaging results) and document that notification accordingly. The CFU Assistant will task the licensed CFU team members to review normal CCS results, normal imaging results, and all abnormal results to connect with the patient to review those results</li>
<li>Notifications and Reminders: Send 3rd notification letters and reminder letters for recommended treatment/follow up/referrals and document their completion.</li>
<li>Scheduling Appointments: Schedule appointments for patients for specific treatment, follow up of abnormal lab results, or in-house referrals and document their completion.</li>
<li>Confidential Morbidity Report [CMRs]: Complete and transmit CMRs for all positive reportable communicable diseases (chlamydia, gonorrhea, syphilis, herpes, HIV) to the county and/or state Public Health Department. Document CMRs accordingly.</li>
<li>Expedited Partner Therapy [EPT]: Transmit or phone in EPT to preferred pharmacies for patients’ partners in chlamydia, gonorrhea, and trichomoniasis cases, according to state rules and regulations. Document EPT prescriptions accordingly.</li>
<li>Mailing Documents to Patients: Print, pack, stamp, and mail hard copy letters via USPS in a HIPAA-compliant manner.</li>
<li>After-Hours Consulting Nurse Communication: Scan in all after hours consulting nurse faxes into the Electronic Health Record [EHR] under the correct patient and task the appropriate CFU Triage RN for review and care coordination, as needed.</li>
<li>My Chart Communication: Respond to MyChart messages that request non-clinical needs (ie, work excuse note, medical records requests) or normal lab results (see above).</li>
<li>Prior Authorization: Review, process, and notify patients of Prior Authorization claims for medications and procedures.</li>
<li>Medical Records: Abstract incoming medical records and task them to CFU Advance Practice Clinicians [APCs] to review; respond to incoming Release of Information [ROI] requests; forward ROI requested by subpoena to the Quality department for legal review. Document receipt or release of medical records accordingly.</li>
<li>HEDIS: Review and respond to HEDIS requests from payors.</li>
<li>Performs other duties as assigned; nothing in this job description restricts management’s right to assign or reassign duties and responsibilities to this job at any time.</li>
