Job Summary</b></p>
The Medical Assistant II is an integral member of the healthcare team within the Division of Otolaryngology and is accountable for patient care as assigned by a licensed independent provider (LIP: MD, NP, PA), a Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) or a Registered Nurse (RN). The MA II participates in the direct and indirect care of patients, health maintenance, patient instruction, collaborative planning and rehabilitation as within scope of practice and consistent with his/her education and training. The MA II may be present in secure medication storage areas and are allowed incidental access to medications. Developing relationships with patients, families and colleagues, the MA II functions as an interdisciplinary team member who provides quality patient care and contributes toward the attainment of important goals for the patient, the practice and the organization. The Phototherapy Technician under general supervision and per protocol administers UVB (narrow band), UVA<br>
(narrow and broadband) phototherapy, and Excimer Laser light treatments to patients with a variety of skin disorders<br>
in a high volume ambulatory setting. Emphasis is placed on safely delivering treatments as often as three times<br>
weekly to each patient with a chronic skin condition. Connects patients with emotional and educational support<br>
according to established policies and protocols. The Technician also needs the ability to organize priorities well,<br>
complete tasks, manage confidential patient information, perform diagnostic testing (phototesting, patch testing,<br>
photopatch testing), schedule patient appointments, referrals and other insurance requests. This position is also<br>

Establish priorities, goals, and performance expectations aligned with School objectives.</li><li>
Provide coaching, mentoring, and professional development.</li><li>
Foster a collaborative, service-oriented, and high-performing team culture focused on continuous improvement and operational excellence.</li><li>
Build trust and collaboration by being present on-site and engaging directly with colleagues and various constituents.</li><li>

Qualifications</p><p><b><br>
Basic Qualifications</b></p><ul><li>
Master&rsquo;s degree, JD, PhD, or equivalent experience required.</li><li>
A minimum of 10 years of progressively responsible experience in research compliance, research administration, sponsored research, regulatory affairs, human subjects protections, legal affairs, or a related field is required.</li></ul><p><b>

Strong understanding of research compliance, governance, and institutional risk management.</li><li>

Strong written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to explain complex issues clearly to diverse audiences.</li><li>

Strong service orientation and experience supporting faculty, senior leaders, and other key stakeholders.</li><li>
Commitment to continuous improvement and interest in leveraging technology, automation, data analytics, and AI-enabled tools to enhance compliance operations and the faculty research experience.<b><br>

</b>This is a hybrid position which we consider to be a combination of remote and onsite work at our Boston, MA based campus. HBS expects all staff to be onsite a minimum of 3 days per week and departments provide onsite coverage Monday &ndash; Friday. Specific hours and days onsite will be determined by business needs and are subject to change with appropriate advanced notice.</li><li><p>

Work Format Details</b></p><p>
This position has been determined by school or unit leaders that some of the duties and responsibilities can be effectively performed at a non-Harvard location. The work schedule and location will be set by the department at its discretion and based upon operational needs. When not working at a Harvard or Harvard-designated location, employees in hybrid positions must work in a Harvard registered state in compliance with the University&rsquo;s Policy on <b>Employment Outside of Massachusetts</b>. Additional details will be discussed during the interview process. Certain visa types and funding sources may limit work location. Individuals must meet work location sponsorship requirements prior to employment.</p>
