White 8 is in search of a highly motivated and dedicated individual to join our team as a Patient Care Assistant I (PCA). This individual must be able to provide weekday nights schedule, and coverage on rotating weekends and holidays.<br>

White 8 is a 27-bed adult general medicine inpatient unit, located in Boston, MA. The unit serves patients from culturally diverse backgrounds and geographic areas that present with acute and complex medical problems. Patients are generally admitted to our unit from the Emergency Department or as a transfer from one of the intensive care units.
<br>

Working under the direction of licensed personnel, assists patients with activities of daily living tasks such as bathing, dressing, and eating. Also assists with taking patients' temperature, blood pressure, pulse, and respiration.<br>

The Phototherapy Technician under general supervision and per protocol administers UVB (narrow band), UVA<br>
(narrow and broadband) phototherapy, and Excimer Laser light treatments to patients with a variety of skin disorders<br>
in a high volume ambulatory setting. Emphasis is placed on safely delivering treatments as often as three times<br>
weekly to each patient with a chronic skin condition. Connects patients with emotional and educational support<br>
according to established policies and protocols. The Technician also needs the ability to organize priorities well,<br>
complete tasks, manage confidential patient information, perform diagnostic testing (phototesting, patch testing,<br>

Manages emergency medication inventory in carts/kits, including ordering and maintaining adequate supply, accurately restocking, organizing to ensure consistent placement and uniformity, documenting medications used for charge purposes, removal of expired/damage products, and performing regular checks on each unit.</p><p>
9. Maintains medication rooms by ensuring all appropriate medications are stocked in patient specific bins in the automated dispensing cabinets and by removing expired and discontinued medications.</p><p>
10. Empties return bins in the automated dispensing cabinets as part of the weekly schedule.</p><p>
11. Utilizes the unit-dose machine to package bulk medications and appropriately compounds non-sterile medications following standard formulas and procedures.</p><p>
12. Performs assigned cycle counts of the carousel on a regular basis, maintaining adequate records of completion.</p><p>
13. Takes accountability for medication management in their assigned patient care area.</p><p>
14. Assists in keeping the Pharmacy neat and clean by caring for equipment and cleaning after compounding prescriptions, manufacturing bulk medications, unit dosing, etc.
</p><p>15. Conduct temperature inspections of the refrigerator in the automated dispensing machine.</p><p>
16. Performs financial transaction activities which may include: Preparing patient billing information; billing third party prescription benefits; Troubleshoots insurance issues; and selects and uses pharmacy pay codes, payers and plans appropriate to each type of transaction.</p><p>
17. Inspects assigned medication storage areas monthly maintaining adequate records of inspection. All assigned areas must be inspected every month to meet standard.</p><p>
18. Greets and assists customers upon arrival to the pharmacy. Participates in point of sale cash transactions. Engages in customer services activities.</p><p>
19. Provides customer or patient assistance over the phone. Triage calls as appropriate.</p><p>
20. All assigned work is completed accurately by the end of each shift and all necessary quality control paperwork is completed accurately and with reasonable speed.</p><p>
21. Communicates effectively with nursing, physicians, and ancillary services to meet the needs of these departments and maintains a positive working relationship and image of the pharmacy department.</p><p>

Day/evening before surgery, set up rooms for following day with necessary equipment for the first cases of the next day.<br>
Able to access Epic for preference card review for equipment and positioning needs.<br>
Uses effective oral and written communication to foster collaboration, teamwork, and mutual respect.<br>
Assists with the day-to-day non-clinical operational issues for perioperative Services. This includes communication with various ancillary services such as Engineering, Biomed, and Telecommunications. Collaborates with multi-disciplinary teams on new equipment in OR.<br>
