Required Education and Experience 
High school diploma or equivalent experience and at least one of the following: At least two (2) years experience in laboratory specimen processing and/or phlebotomy; or. Successful completion of a phlebotomy program through a postsecondary school or college accredited by a regional or national accrediting organization recognized by the U.S. Dept of Education; or. Laboratory related college courses including Clinical Laboratory Assistant associate degree program or bachelor&rsquo;s degree coursework in Biology, Chemistry, or related fields. 
 
Required Credentials
 
Washington State Medical Assistant-Phlebotomist certification to be obtained within the first 6 months of employment. Medical Assistant-Certified certification will be accepted in lieu of the Medical Assistant-Phlebotomist. 
 
Preferred 
Completion of an approved phlebotomy program. Phlebotomy Certification by an agency approved by the U.S. Department of Education or National Commission for Health Certifying Agencies (NCHCA). A.S.C.P. or N.C.A grants common credentials. Pediatric phlebotomy experience. Bilingual skills. Associate or Bachelor&rsquo;s degree in laboratory-related field. Eligibility to obtain Washington State Medical Assistant-Registered certification to allow for application of topical anesthetic cream.

$26.51 - $39.76 per hour

<div>Who we&rsquo;re looking for:
</div><div>The UW Medicine - Department of Laboratory Medicine &amp; Pathology (DLMP) in Seattle, WA has a fantastic opportunity for a Clinical Laboratory Technician (CLT) 2 with the Ambulatory Services Team at UW Medical Center - Roosevelt . 
</div><div>In this role, you will join a team of respectful and collaborative lab professionals in providing outstanding direct patient care to UW Medicine patients . As a C LT 2, you will be responsible for pre-analytic laboratory procedures such as phlebotomy and specimen processing as well as performing several rapid tests on - site. This is a great professional growth opportunity for L ab T echnicians, L ab A ssistants, or P hlebotomists to learn and perform point of care testing, quality control and quality assurance, and basic troubleshooting. This position may rotate between the Husky Health Center, South Lake Union, and Eastside Specialty Center clinical laboratories as needed .

</li></ul></div><div>What you&rsquo;ll contribute:
</div><div><ul><li>Perform stat and routine tests utilizing kit assays and point of care devices and accurately enter test results into the Laboratory Information System (LIS) .
</li></ul></div><div><ul><li>Perform quality control analyses on all tests assigned and determine whether all parameters are within established ranges .
</li></ul></div><div><ul><li>Perform routine quality monitoring of test systems and troubleshoot, when necessary, by consulting manufacturer&rsquo;s manuals, division procedures, and requesting guidance from the MLS or Lead .
</li></ul></div><div><ul><li>Demonstrate excellent customer service skills and appropriately handle telephone inquiries from staff and providers .
</li></ul></div><div><ul><li>Perform phlebotomy on adult and pediatric patients .
</li></ul></div><div><ul><li>Interpret provider test orders, prioritize specimen handling based on specimen type and clinical urgency, monitor requisitions and labels for accuracy , and investigate/document errors and incomplete orders .
</li></ul></div><div><ul><li>Prepare and process specimens for transport and testing, storing specimens under optimal temperature conditions for the test(s) indicated .
</li></ul></div><div><ul><li>Exhibit a working knowledge of the lab information systems (LIS), including Sunquest and EPIC; p roblem-solve issues, and generate batch lists, pending logs, and exception reports, etc. to document and track specimens within the Department .
</li></ul></div><div><ul><li>Participate in training and demonstrate routine laboratory techniques to students and new employees .
</li></ul></div><div><ul><li>Monitor laboratory inventory in assigned work area and notify lead if supplies are needed and place orders, if assigned .
</li></ul></div><div><ul><li>Represent DLMP and UW Medicine to play an important role in promoting our mission, values and goal of service excellence and patient safety.

</div><div><ul><li>High school graduation or equivalent AND two (2) years of chemical, clinical, or public health laboratory experience.
</li></ul></div></div><div><div><ul><li>Equivalent education and/or experience may substitute for minimum qualifications except when there are legal requirements, such as a license, certification, and/or registration. 
</li></ul></div><div>Additional d epartment r equirement :
</div><div><ul><li>Medical Assistant &ndash; Phlebotomist (MA-P) certification with the Washington State Department of Health OR obtain the MA-P certification within 180 days of start date.
