Patient Care Technician I - Neuro/Full Time, Nights

Under the direct supervision of a registered pharmacist, supervisor, and/or director/manager of pharmacy services, the Pharmacy Technician II - Inpatient performs a variety of technical and clerical duties for the hospital-wide unit dose drug distribution system and intravenous admixture program. This position is responsible to maintain confidential reports, enter and retrieve data utilizing the computer system, prepare intravenous medication, assists in all aspects of labeling and preparation of medication, assists with management of inventory including receiving and storing medication as well as preparation and delivery of narcotics, data collection related to medication center review and quality improvement, assists in monitoring and management of emergency carts through the hospital, fill automated medication dispensing system with a supply of unit dose medications, procure, and fill requests for pharmaceutical supplies and deliver supplies to nursing units.

With the use of an automated dispensing system printout, fills each automated dispensing cabinet with a 24-hour supply of medications. Verifies the contents of automated dispensing system stock by checking stock filled by another technician. Fills patient medication orders with the correct medication from computer labels prior to each hourly run. Fills and delivers narcotic orders to nursing units and ancillary departments according to policy and procedure. Delivers checked medications to the nursing units. Refills automated dispensing system to prescribed par levels. Reports unusual occurrences to the pharmacists. Restocks nursing units, operating room, recovery room, and ancillary departments with a limited supply of floor stock medications and supplies. Maintains and restocks individual filling stations and work areas, including all satellites while contributing to the maintenance of a fixed, minimal level of pharmacy inventory. Prepackages and labels medications into unit doses from bulk supply. Reorders pharmacy supplies from the hospital warehouse. When necessary, mix and combine pharmaceutical products for hospital use. Bills/credits patient medications by use of the computer charging system . Maintains pharmacy in a clean and organized fashion. Maintains clean and sterile environment within the intravenous admixture area, including clean room. Routinely washes with appropriate germicidal solutions all hoods, counters, carts, and all other equipment that will be used within the work area. Prepares all IV additive medications using sterile technique as directed by the pharmacist and according to the policies and procedures set by the pharmacy department. Generates reports and labels to compile and arranges a work list for the preparation of an adequate number of IV admixtures to cover a 24-hour period. Responsible for safe and careful handling of chemotherapeutic medications Assembles materials for the preparation of the daily supply of IVs including medication labels, medications, solutions, syringes, needles, and administration sets and other equipment necessary. Labels a 24-hour supply of IV bags and syringes with the computer generated patient name and drug/dose label. Ensures that all IVs are properly labeled with the information deemed necessary by the Intravenous Admixture Guidelines. Checks finished solutions for clarity and particulate matter and places IVs in proper storage area after the final check by the pharmacist. Prepares bulk manufactured IV syringes as per par levels. Maintain up-to-date regulatory documents and manage communication with sponsors and IRBs.</li><li>
Track and submit screening, enrollment, and randomization logs to sponsors on time.</li><li>
Keep organized and accurate patient binders and study records.</li><li>
Monitor safety reports and submit Adverse Event (AE) and Serious Adverse Event (SAE) reports as required.</li><li>
Complete and maintain case report forms (CRFs) in a timely, accurate manner.</li><li>
Document patient interactions, including teaching and consent discussions, in accordance with protocol.</li><li>
Ensure all study procedures, visits, and exams occur within protocol timeframes.</li><li>
Protect patient confidentiality at all times and follow HIPAA guidelines.</li><li>
Attend and represent the site at sponsor meetings or professional events as needed.</li><li>

Qualifications:</b></div><ul><li>
High school diploma or equivalent, required.</li><li>
Certified Clinical Research Coordinator (CRCC) preferred, or actively working toward certification.</li><li>
Current GCP certification or ability to obtain within 14 days of hire.</li><li><i>
Preferred:</i> Associate degree or higher in nursing, biomedical sciences, or related field; prior experience in a clinical research or medical office setting.</li></ul><div></div><div><b><br>
