CENTER FOR COMPUTATIONAL NEUROSCIENCE (CCN) OVERVIEW

CCN takes a &ldquo;systems&quot; neuroscience approach, building models that are motivated by fundamental principles, that are constrained by properties of neural circuits and responses, and that provide insights into perception, cognition and behavior. This cross-disciplinary approach not only leads to the design of new model-driven scientific experiments, but also encapsulates current functional descriptions of the brain that can spur the development of new engineered computational systems, especially in the realm of machine learning.

POSITION SUMMARY

Work Location &amp; Leadership Presence

NYGC recognizes the value of workplace flexibility while fostering a highly collaborative, team-oriented scientific environment. As a member of the Executive Management Team, the Vice President, Genome Technologies is expected to maintain a regular on-site presence to provide visible leadership, strengthen collaboration, and support organizational culture. 


The successful candidate is expected to work on-site at least four (4) days per week, with limited remote work flexibility subject to approval by the Scientific Director &amp; CEO. Regular interaction with faculty, staff, institutional partners, and executive leadership is essential to the success of this role. Occasional evening and weekend work, as well as domestic and international travel, may be required. 


Salary &amp; Benefits

The pay range for this position is $270,000-350,000 per year; the base pay offered may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience.

About the New York Genome Center

The New York Genome Center (NYGC) is an independent, nonprofit, academic research organization dedicated to advancing genomic research. NYGC scientists and staff are furthering new approaches to diagnosing and treating neurological diseases and cancer through their unique capabilities in whole genome sequencing, RNA sequencing, state-of-the art analytics, and the development of genomic tools. The CUNY Dominican Studies Institute was founded in 1992 at The City College of New York. It is the nation&rsquo;s first university- based research institute dedicated to the study of the Dominican people, particularly those who have made the United States their home. In addition to producing rigorous and impactful scholarship, working with younger generations at all levels, including undergraduate and school students, has long been a central priority and an essential component of the Institute&rsquo;s mission.
A defining hallmark of the Institute is its unique ability to integrate participants across these diverse educational levels into its research projects, creating a dynamic, intergenerational model of learning that transcends age and academic stage. In 2025, these programs served close to 800 students, including 20 participants from across the United States in the Summer Research Internship.
While these initiatives have grown into a robust educational pipeline, serving multiple stages of the academic journey in a structured sequence and representing the only program of its kind in the nation focused on Dominican Studies, the Institute seeks a candidate who can support the continued research, assessment, and development of its educational programs and initiatives.
The successful candidate must possess a unique professional and academic profile that combines theoretical knowledge on educational pedagogy with practical application. The preferred candidate should possess experience working within K-12 public school system, including collaborating with teachers and administrators, as well as a Ph.D. in Education or a closely related field.
Duties of the proposed position:
<ul><li>Support the development and assessment of initiatives that brings together all of CUNY DSI&rsquo;s educational programs, including contributing to program planning and evaluation activities</li></ul>
