POSITION SUMMARY

The Junior Structural Designer &amp; BIM Technician supports the Engineering Department in preparing drawings, models, and digital design deliverables for marine and heavy civil structures including bulkheads, dolphins, trestles, bridges, piers, and terminals.

This position is designed for early-career designers who are eager to learn structural and marine drafting, 3D modeling, and BIM workflows. The Junior Designer will work closely with senior engineers, modelers, and field teams to produce accurate plans and models while developing their technical and digital skill sets.

<li>Contribute to the negotiation, approval and execution of multiple types of prime contracts, subcontracts, purchase orders, and change orders.</li>
<li>Develop the project plan for site mobilization and demobilization and support the Construction Manager or Site Manager with implementation.</li>

<li>Support development of and coordinate the potential bidders' registration and pre-qualification efforts on behalf of the project team.</li>

<li>Support the implementation of multiple project specifications, drawing releases, and design changes.</li>
<li>Execute downstream contract administration, including Request for Information (RFI's), submittals, meeting minutes, change management, and claims mitigation.</li>
<li>Support project cost reporting, scheduling, work breakdown structures, project set-up and close-out, and field progress tracking processes.</li>
<li>Prepare information for and report project status', risks, schedule, costs, and cash flows at project and corporate level meetings to internal and external stakeholders.</li>
<li>Develop and distribute meeting minutes as needed.</li>
<li>Support the Prime Contract, subcontract, client contractor, and supplier invoicing process.</li>
<li>Establish, review and implement the project documentation and filing systems and processes.</li>
<li>Verify the project, client contractor, and/or subcontractor's insurance, licensures, taxes/duties, and securities are in effect according to the project requirements.</li>
<li>Support and conduct project safety, quality, progress and financial audits and assessments as required.</li>
<li>Facilitate the materials receiving and management process including inventory control, receiving of goods, storage, and transportation.</li>
<li>Collaborate with Superintendents and Site Managers to verify compliance of subcontractor's client contractors contract documents, safety &amp; health requirements, quality, and schedule.</li>
<li>Facilitate the project turnover documentation, recordkeeping/retention, warranty and project close-out processes.</li>
<li>Assist with maintaining compliance on all project-related activities by consistently applying company policies and procedures.</li>
<li>Assist with the development of project labor agreements with building trades as required.</li>
<li>Assist with onboarding of craft/field supervision as required.</li>
<li>Analyze composite crew rates to determine labor and equipment costs.</li>
<li>Work with field operations/craft HR team to appropriately staff projects.</li>
<li>Analyze and monitor labor burdens including craft classifications, benefits and labor laws.</li>
<li>Maintain accurate craft classifications and craft progression records.</li>
<li>Assist with upholding standards of craft competency and training.</li>
<li>Estimate, forecast and manage craft install unit rates, production rates to ensure earned value, schedule, change management and ensure cost metrics are met.</li>

<li>Manage construction equipment to ensure adequate inventory to complete projects.</li>

</ul>Qualifications
<ul><li>Bachelor's degree in Construction, Construction Management, Engineering, or a related field, and 3 years relevant construction experience required.</li>
<li>Applicable experience may be substituted for the degree requirement.</li>
<li>Excellent computer skills and proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint and Access).</li>
<li>Experience with document control, scheduling, cost control and project management software is preferred.</li>
<li>Excellent written and verbal communication skills and strong organizational skills.</li>
<li>Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, and attention to detail.</li>
<li>Ability to handle large volumes of work and multi-task in a fast-paced environment.</li>

The expected compensation range for this position is displayed in compliance with all local/state regulations. The expected compensation range for this position is based on a number of factors, including but not limited to: individual education, qualifications, prior work experience and work location. The total annual compensation package will consist of a base salary and eligibility to participate in our discretionary year-end incentive bonus program.

Position summary

The Electrical Designer develops and coordinates complete AC and DC design packages for utility-scale solar and BESS projects, from early design through Issued-for-Construction (IFC) deliverables. This role supports both Engineer-of-Record (EOR)&ndash;led and in-house engineering efforts and ensures that designs meet project scope, schedule, budget, safety, quality, and constructability requirements in alignment with Signal Energy&rsquo;s core principles.

Essential duties and responsibilities
<ul>
<li>Lead the development of PV array and BESS electrical design packages from concept through IFC, including single-line and three-line diagrams, conduit and cable schedules, and wiring details for utility-scale projects.</li>
<li>Prepare detailed DC collection layouts (stringing plans, combiner boxes, DC feeders) and AC collection layouts (inverters, MV transformers, MV feeders, and terminations) to achieve performance and cost objectives.</li>
<li>Perform core electrical design calculations including string sizing, voltage drop, conductor and raceway sizing, short-circuit, equipment ratings, grounding, and overcurrent protection in accordance with applicable codes and standards.</li>
<li>Interpret and implement project design criteria, owner requirements, utility interconnection requirements, and site-specific conditions into cohesive, constructible design documentation.</li>
<li>Produce plan and detail drawings in AutoCAD (and related tools), including equipment layouts, raceway routing, trench and duct bank details, cable routing plans, vaults, terminations, and grounding diagrams.</li>
<li>Coordinate closely with civil, structural, high-voltage, BESS, and construction teams to resolve spatial conflicts and ensure electrical designs are fully integrated with grading, roads, drainage, and foundations.</li>
<li>Support preliminary and detailed energy modeling (e.g., PVSyst or similar) by providing accurate design assumptions, losses, and equipment configurations to optimize system performance and reliability.</li>
<li>Assist in preparing permit, interconnection, and construction submittal packages, including drawing sets, calculations, and responses to AHJ, utility, and client comments.</li>
<li>Provide construction-phase design support including RFI responses, design clarifications, redline incorporation, and updates to as-built documentation.</li>
<li>Contribute to the development and continuous improvement of Signal Energy&rsquo;s standard details, design tools, workflows, and best practices for utility-scale solar and BESS projects.</li>
</ul>
Attributes and competencies
<ul>
<li>Strong technical foundation in power systems and utility-scale solar/BESS electrical design, including DC/AC collection, grounding, overcurrent protection, and interconnection concepts.</li>
<li>Comfortable interfacing with clients, EORs, utilities, construction teams, and internal stakeholders, with clear written and verbal communication skills for technical reports, RFIs, and design justifications.</li>
<li>Proficient in AutoCAD (or equivalent CAD platform) for electrical design; familiarity with PV modeling tools (PVSyst, Helioscope) and power system analysis software (ETAP, SKM, or similar) is preferred.</li>

Education and experience
<ul>
<li>Bachelor&rsquo;s degree in Electrical Engineering, Renewable Energy, or related discipline; equivalent relevant experience in utility-scale solar design may be considered in lieu of degree.</li>
<li>5+ years of experience in solar PV or power systems design, with at least 3 years focused on commercial, industrial, or utility-scale solar and/or BESS.</li>
<li>Working knowledge of NEC and NFPA; familiarity with NESC, IEEE, and utility interconnection standards is strongly preferred.</li>
<li>EIT or PE license, and/or NABCEP PV Design or PV Installation certification preferred but not required.</li>
</ul>
Work environment and location
<ul>
<li>Primary location is Signal Energy&rsquo;s Houston, TX office, with a &ldquo;Houston-first&rdquo; approach to hiring and team collaboration.</li>
<li>Remote work from other U.S. locations may be considered for highly qualified candidates, with periodic travel to Houston and project sites as needed (up to approximately 10%).</li>
