At Zoopla you will design and run the search and retrieval systems behind the consumer portal, serving millions of users. Search relevance, ranking, and the services and data pipelines that feed them sit at the centre of this role. Write and maintain automated tests (unit, integration, end-to-end) to ensure reliability and quality.</li><li>
Collaborate with UX designers, product stakeholders, and developers to build custom UI components; develop tools and automated processes to streamline development and enhance developer experience.</li><li>
Leverages enterprise-authorized AI coding assist tools within the work environment to improve code quality, delivery speed, and productivity across complex deliverables (e.g., code generation/refactoring, unit test creation, documentation), while validating outputs through peer review, automated testing, and secure coding standards; contributes learnings and reusable patterns to improve broader team effectiveness.</li><li>
Applies knowledge of tools within the Software Development Life Cycle toolchain, including enterprise-authorized AI-assisted development and automation capabilities, to improve the value realized by automation.</li><li>
Build Generative AI interface solutions using React and TypeScript, following CI/CD standards.</li><li>
Actively use AI development tools for code generation, refactoring, debugging, documentation, and testing; work closely with Product, UX, and cross-functional partners to deliver capabilities in agile sprints.</li></ul>
Required Qualifications, Capabilities, and Skills:<ul><li>
Formal training or certification in software engineering.</li><li>
Expertise in HTML, CSS, JavaScript, React, TypeScript, and state management.</li><li>
Experience optimizing and debugging performance and memory issues in web applications.</li><li>
Strong communication and collaboration skills with cross-functional teams.</li><li>
Familiarity with agile methodologies, production readiness, and security-aware development.</li><li>
Experience maintaining production UI code in large development teams.</li><li>
Understanding of user experience principles and customer-oriented development.</li><li>
Hands-on experience using enterprise-authorized AI-assisted software development tools within the work environment (e.g., for coding, test creation, troubleshooting, or documentation) with demonstrated ability to critically evaluate, validate, and refine AI-generated outputs for correctness, performance, and security.</li><li>
Understanding of responsible AI use in engineering workflows, including data sensitivity considerations, secure handling of inputs/outputs, and adherence to resiliency and security expectations; ability to guide peers on safe and effective usage within team practices.</li><li>
Testing experience with component/unit and end-to-end tools (e.g., React Testing Library, Cypress, Playwright).</li><li>
Experience building or integrating Generative AI features in frontend products.</li></ul>
Preferred Qualifications, Capabilities, and Skills:<ul><li>
Exposure to cloud technologies and modern web delivery.</li><li>
Experience with shared UI platforms or component libraries.</li><li>
Strong accessibility engineering, including WCAG compliance and remediation.</li><li>
