This librarian will lead projects, develop community-focused programming, maintain collections, and provide basic to advanced reference help and readers’ advisory for Library patrons in person and via LibAnswers. This position requires a commitment to inclusionary patron-centered practices and amplifying voices from historically marginalized and excluded communities. The ideal candidate will have experience working with racially, culturally, and economically diverse communities. They will also have experience providing programs and services for people in diverse linguistic communities. Writing, editing, and presentation skills are preferred; the ability to provide reference services in non-English languages is an asset. The successful candidate will be a part of a team of Librarians and Library Associate IVs reporting to an Assistant Managing Librarian. As a staff member at the Central Library, an Adult Services Librarian is responsible for maintaining a safe and welcoming public environment utilizing principles of de-escalation. Experience providing service for people who are insecurely housed, or individuals living with addiction or perceived mental health needs, is preferred. <br><b>Cultural Competency:</b> Recognition of the need to continually develop and practice cultural competence in customer service, reference services, reader’s advisory, program development, community engagement, teamwork and leadership, especially when working with communities and staff whose lived experience the librarian may not share.Community Engagement and Partnerships: Understand the role of community engagement in identifying community needs and goals, and develop relevant and responsive programs, services, and content that meet those needs. Engage with community members and organizations to develop and maintain both formal and informal relationships to realize outcomes that further the community’s and Library’s goals. Understand the importance of bringing Library resources to where people are, both inside the library and spaces in the community.Reference Services and Readers’ Advisory: Assist patrons of all ages and interests in finding information they need and materials that surprise and delight. Overview</b></p><div>
The Seattle Public Library (SPL) is a dynamic urban library system that consists of the Central Library, 26 neighborhood libraries, and Mobile Services. The Community Engagement and Economic Development Department (CEED) department oversees system-wide programming, outreach, and community engagement, and is home to the Library Equal Access Program (LEAP).</div><div></div><div><br>
The LEAP LAIV position supports the expansion and continued delivery of library services, programs and resources for patrons with disabilities. This position reports to the LEAP Supervising Librarian and also works closely with the CEED Manager and the Outreach and Mobile Services Assistant Managing Librarian. This 64 hour/pay period position is based in the Central Library and also works at locations throughout Seattle.</div><div></div><div><br>
The position provides support to library patrons with disabilities around access to library services, provides basic training and support on the use of assistive technology and coordinates with volunteers or partner agencies to support more in-depth training on assistive technology. The position represents the library at events and on committees and is responsible for maintaining existing community partnerships and working with others in the department to develop new relationships with outside organizations.</div></div><p></p>
<div><h2 class="jobSectionHeader"><b>Job Responsibilities</b></h2></div>
<p></p><div><div><ul><li>Provide support to patrons during staffed &ldquo;drop-in&rdquo; hours for the LEAP assistive technology lab.</li><li>
Support planning and implementation of programs and services for LEAP patrons including supporting accessibility of virtual, hybrid and in-person programming and access to assistive technology.</li><li>
Facilitate and support the development of outreach activities for youth and adults with disabilities.</li><li>
Collaborate with colleagues throughout the system on projects that are relevant to LEAP&rsquo;s patrons and the goals of LEAP.</li><li>
Support engagement with partner organizations including government agencies, nonprofits, and education programs.</li><li>
Represent the Library at community events, meetings and other engagement activities with internal and external partners.</li><li>
Support programming within LEAP and CEED by staffing events and providing operational support to LEAP programs such as the Low Vision Book Group, and other on and offsite programs.</li><li>
Share information about LEAP and supportive services with library staff through maintenance of SharePoint site, presentations in unit meetings, and other platforms.</li><li>
Develop expert knowledge of LEAP services, policies, and programs.</li><li>
Coordinate digital literacy activities for LEAP. This may include individual and group training, engagement with partner agencies who provide training, and development of curricula in the use of assistive and general computer technology for people with disabilities.</li><li>
Provide operational support to LEAP and CEED. This includes but is not limited to: tracking program and participant data, contributing to periodic descriptive and evaluative reports, purchasing goods and services, and ensuring the effective use of resources by tracking expenditures.</li><li>
Act as lead on bookmobile runs, providing reader&rsquo;s advisory, reference and circulation services.</li></ul></div></div><p></p>
<div><h2 class="jobSectionHeader"><b>Qualifications</b></h2></div>
<p></p><div><ul><li><b>Experience:</b> Minimum of 2 years of experience working with people with disabilities and knowledge of relevant community services and resources.</li><li><b>
Communication and interpersonal skills</b>: Excellent written, oral, and cross-cultural communication skills. Minimum of 2 years of experience speaking in front of midsized audiences (for example: delivering presentations, instruction, facilitating groups). Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to resolve conflict, problem-solve creatively, and work effectively in a team setting with both internal and external stakeholders. The ability to exercise tact and diplomacy during difficult conversations and when resolving conflict.</li><li><b>
Judgment, initiative, leadership</b>: Demonstrated experience independently managing responsibilities with minimal supervision, exercising initiative, and being flexible and resourceful when faced with new challenges or situations. Must be comfortable acting as lead on programming and outreach activities. Ability to recognize problems and assess situations, to gather and evaluate relevant information, and to take appropriate action, including referral and application of Library policy and procedure.</li><li><b>
Team membership: </b>Demonstrated ability to work effectively with teams; a track record of making positive contributions that further team goals and cohesion. Ability to recognize and adjust work in order to support the successful operation of the unit.</li><li><b>
Organization skills: </b>Demonstrated ability to recognize and set priorities, participate in multiple ongoing projects, and plan, organize and coordinate own work and that of a work team.</li><li><b>
Technology</b>: Intermediate skill levels in Microsoft Word, e-mail and electronic file maintenance, and Internet searching. Ability to troubleshoot minor computer and office equipment issues and assist patrons in resolving issues related to computers and office equipment. Demonstrated ability to learn, use, and assist library users with technology including accessing digital downloads and using the library catalog and databases.</li><li><b>
Library Information Resources: </b>Familiarity with library online catalogs, internet searching and basic print reference resources.</li><li><b>
Education: </b>High School Diploma or Graduate Equivalent Degree (GED) is required. Postsecondary education and/or relevant work experience will be considered in determining candidate competitiveness.</li><li><b>

<p>We are looking for a mindful and responsible Assistant Preschool Teacher to work full-time in our beautiful, inclusive, and vibrant preschool. Under the guidance of our Lead Teachers, our Preschool classrooms use the Montessori philosophy as a framework to create an intentional, warm, and respectful care and learning environment for young children.</p><p><b>The schedule for this position would be 7am-3pm with the option to work till 4pm for an extra hour).</b></p><p>For full time employees, we provide a comprehensive benefits package (medical dental, vision), an unlimited bus pass for ~$20 a month, and several paid holidays a year, including but not limited to: a week off in the Spring, a week off in Summer, and a week off in Winter. <p><i>The School of Technology &amp; Computing (STC) is seeking two interim Program Managers to lead our Artificial Intelligence (AI) &amp; Computer Science (CS) and Cybersecurity (CY) &amp; Data Science (DS) initiatives.</i></p>
<p><i>In this critical assistant leadership position, you will play a key role in connecting academic excellence with Seattle's vibrant high-tech, maritime, and healthcare industries. You will be responsible for advancing programs in AI, CS, CY, and DS, with special emphasis on AI Engineering, Full-Stack AI, AI System Architecture, Physical AI, Digital Twins, Cybersecurity in Operational Technology, Machine Learning Engineering, and AI-</i></p>
<p><b>Job Summary:</b></p>
<p>Program Managers support Program Directors and are instrumental in delivering a high-quality student experience. They ensure the effectiveness of critical program components, including curriculum design, assessment, technology integration, and ongoing program development. Additionally, Program Managers foster student growth, supervise the student journey, and may participate in academic governance.</p>

Proven evidence in research and/or teaching in AI, CS, DS, or CY</li><li>
At least two (2) or more years of progressively responsible work in the tech industry are required.</li><li>
Possesses a genuine understanding of the practitioner-faculty model and the importance of providing students with the highest quality educational experience in technology and computing.</li><li>
Experience addressing student academic-related issues and concerns.</li><li>
Experience managing virtual teams.</li><li>
Excellent interpersonal skills. Must be able to relate to and communicate with diverse students, faculty, staff, and external communities.</li><li>
Ability to present a professional image on behalf of the academic school and CityU as appropriate.</li></ul>
