About the Criminal Justice Division:</b></p><p>
The mission of the Criminal Justice Division (CRJ) is to work with and support its partners in the criminal justice community to protect Washington citizens and state agencies from criminal activity and fraud. CRJ is comprised of five units: the Signature Projects Unit (SPU), the Major Economic Crimes Unit (MECU), the Criminal Litigation Unit (CLU), the Sexually Violent Predator Unit (SVP) and the Washington State Patrol/Criminal Justice Training Commission Unit (WSP/CJTC). While tasked with distinct responsibilities, these units draw on each other&rsquo;s expertise and collaborate to combat criminal activity, locate missing persons, return stolen funds to state agencies, and create safe communities.</p><p>
The SPU has three teams: the Homicide Investigations Tracking System (HITS) Unit, the Sexual Assault Investigations Support Team (SAIST), and the Missing and Murdered Indigenous Women and People Cold Case Investigations Unit (MMIWP Cold Case Unit). The Homicide Investigation Tracking System (HITS) Unit assists law enforcement by providing investigative expertise and maintaining a statewide database to analyze data regarding crimes and perpetrators and identify and apprehend serial offenders. SAIST implements measures to ensure that lawfully-owed DNA is collected and tested so that cold cases, including serial offenders, can be brought to justice. The MMIWP Cold Case Unit assists federal, local, and tribal law enforcement agencies in investigating unsolved cases involving Indigenous people, who are disproportionately subjected to violent crime.</p><p>
The MECU and CLU investigate and prosecute criminal cases when requested by the Governor or any of the 39 county prosecuting attorneys, including multi-jurisdictional crimes, violent crimes, financial crimes, and crimes involving specialized expertise such complex fraud, criminal conspiracies, corporate corruption, public corruption, organized retail crime and schemes that target state agencies.</p><p>
The SVP Unit identifies Washington&rsquo;s most prolific and dangerous sexually violent predators and works to civilly commit those who continue to pose a serious risk to re-offend.</p><p>
The WSP/CJTC Unit represents and advises the Washington State Patrol and the Washington State Criminal Justice Training Commission.</p><p>

Duties and Essential Functions</b>:</p><p><b>
This position is an AGO Senior Investigator/Analyst in the Homicide Investigation Tracking System (HITS) Unit.</b></p><p>
HITS is designed to assist law enforcement agencies in solving cases involving missing persons, murders, sexual assaults and other violent crimes including unresolved and serial cases. HITS also assists with the resolution of equivocal death investigations. The HITS Mission is accomplished with the utilization of a comprehensive database, bulletin distribution, and the expertise of experienced investigators.</p><p>
We seek candidates with the vision and passion to work with law enforcement to solve violent crimes, cold cases and serial crimes to bring justice or closure for victims and their loved ones, as well as improve public safety.</p><p>
This position will proactively assist law enforcement agencies with primary jurisdiction over current and cold cases. This position is expected to independently and collaboratively review and contribute to comprehensive investigations and expand resources available to law enforcement and provide, locate, and coordinate specialized expertise. This position is also expected to use a culturally attuned, trauma-informed, and family- and victim-centered approach in assisting local law enforcement agencies.</p><p>
This position will serve as an expert consultant to local law enforcement agencies for individual current and cold case investigations, including but not limited to unsolved homicides, sex offenses, sexually motivated offenses, missing persons, and cases of unidentified remains. It will provide specialized technical and procedural advice and assistance in the areas of complex case organization, management, and investigation, witness interviewing, evidence collection and analysis, forensic testing, and other skills and knowledge related to current and unsolved cases. This position will offer guidance conducting investigations of cases which often have extreme sensitivity due to the high-profile nature of the crime and/or persons involved, along with an elevated media interest. It will work with medical examiners, forensic scientists, forensic anthropologists, ballistics and weapons experts; prosecuting attorneys and other relevant experts; to interview witnesses; or pursue new, advanced DNA testing of evidence. Conducts basic internet research to assist in law enforcement investigations; and performs other duties as assigned.</p><p>
This position will also be responsible for gathering data on murders and other violent crimes within a specified geographical area. This position may be requested to assist other AGO Units with their investigations.</p><p>
This position will organize, facilitate, and lead meetings of investigators from multiple agencies to discuss cold cases, serial crimes and related issues. On a recurring basis, this position will take a lead role in multi-jurisdictional task forces by organizing and facilitating meetings attended by detectives from agencies with cases that cross jurisdiction lines. This position will coordinate between law enforcement agencies, medical examiners, forensic scientists, ballistics experts, weapons experts, blood spatter experts, forensic anthropologists, and others with pertinent expertise to create a network of professionals who can provide opinions in specific cases as well as contribute to discussions of general issues.</p><p>

CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT:<p>
This work takes place in a hybrid office environment in a high-rise office building in downtown Seattle. This position requires regular travel throughout the state, and the use of a state vehicle with an approved Washington State license. This position requires regular and reliable attendance and is typically scheduled 8-5 M-F but may be modified with a flex and telework schedule. Occasional irregular hours, including working more than 40 hours in a week, may result in the course of completing investigations. Investigative work includes performing work in sometimes hostile, or adverse situations, and engaging with a large variety of witnesses.</p><p>
CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT:</p><ul><li><p>
Work schedule is Monday through Friday, 8:00 am to 5:00 pm, with a one hour unpaid meal period, or other approved flexible schedule. This position is required to travel both day and night, with frequent trips throughout the state of Washington with extended periods of time away from the residence or office. Work is performed in a legal office environment. Work may also be performed in field operations. Exposure and interaction with law enforcement entities, and suspects, witnesses, and victims believed to be involved or associated with alleged criminal activity.</p></li><li><p>

The Wastewater Treatment Division, one of the largest public clean water utilities in the Pacific Northwest, is recruiting for a high-performing Chief Financial Officer who can build and enhance our financial capacity, capabilities and performance. This position will lead a talented, knowledgeable and experienced team and serve as key decision-maker, voice of the utility strategic advisor to senior leadership during a period of continued growth, change and scrutiny, since costs and rates are increasing.<p>
In this role you will manage the development, implementation and monitoring of rates, budgets, debt issuances; oversight of operating and capital fund management; short and long-term financial policy analysis and management of revenue and accounts receivables, grants and low-interest loans, internal and external audits, accounting, payroll, technology, vehicle fleet, and small and attractive asset functions. You will be a participating member of the division&rsquo;s leadership team, setting vision, goals, and strategies for the division.</p><p>
You will lead the way through active engagement with staff to foster an anti-racist, pro-equity workplace where everyone can thrive, and work with division leadership to ensure services are equitably provide to the residents of King County. Specific responsibilities include managing the staff who produce the annual sewer rate, capacity charge and septage fee proposals, overseeing units responsible for the operating and capital fund budgets, financial monitoring processes, short and long-term debt management strategies; revenue and collections functions including the Capacity Charge program; annual audited financial statements, audit programs and addressing all emerging issues in WTD which have short and/or long-term financial impacts.<br>

This is a fast-paced position with tight deadlines and requires quick turn-arounds on products requested by the Division Director, Department leadership, Executive&rsquo;s office and King County Council members. The Chief Financial Officer plays a key role in addressing financial policies and strategies and issues facing the Division and will communicate financial information to a variety of audiences. This position has five direct reports and will lead approximately 35 professional staff in the Division's Finance &amp; Administration Section and will work collaboratively with all levels of WTD. We are looking for an empathetic people leader to manage, motivate and develop staff, a self-starter with strong financial management skills, a keen attention to detail and the ability to work in a fast-paced political environment.<p><br>

The successful applicant will establish and lead an independent and extramurally-funded research program, and participate in teaching and mentoring graduate students and postdoctoral scholars. As the second largest Department in the UW School of Medicine, Pediatrics has twenty-one clinical divisions with approximately 1,400 academic appointments, including approximately 650 paid faculty members, 134 residents, 70 ACGME fellows, 230 staff employees and over 600 volunteer/affiliate faculty and continues to grow each year. The Department of Pediatrics is a close affiliate of Seattle Children's Hospital (SCH) and Seattle Children's Research Institute (SCRI). Faculty members appointed in the Department are located at various institutions (including Seattle Children&rsquo;s, UW Medicine, and FHCRC), and are part of the Children&rsquo;s University Medical Group (CUMG) clinical practice plan.</p>

The base salary range for this position will be: Associate Professors with PhD $13,750 &ndash; 18,000 per month ($165,000 - $216,000), Professors with PhD $16,667 - $27,084 per month ($200,004 - $325,008 annually), commensurate with experience and qualifications, or as mandated by a U.S. Department of Labor prevailing wage determination. This range is inclusive of base salary provided by the University. Please note that only compensation provided by the University is included in University benefit determinations and calculations.</p>

Job Description
<br><br>
The United States Attorney is seeking an experienced appellate lawyer to serve as an Assistant United States Attorney (AUSA). The AUSA's main responsibility will be briefing and arguing direct criminal appeals before the United States Court of Appeals for the Ninth Circuit. The AUSA may also handle civil appeals, will litigate habeas cases in district court and the court of appeals, and will assist trial prosecutors throughout the district including handling district court briefing and hearings on emerging legal issues. Although the practice will be primarily appellate, the AUSA may also be called upon in certain cases to join a trial team and assist in trying cases in the district court. The district's appellate caseload is extremely heavy; the AUSA can expect to be responsible for a variety of matters at any one time.

Qualifications

<b>Required Qualifications:</b><br>
Applicants must possess a J.D. Degree, be an active member of the bar (any U.S. jurisdiction), and have at least one (1) year post-J.D. legal or other relevant experience.

United States citizenship is required.

<b>Preferred Qualifications:</b><br>
Ideal qualifications include at least three (3) years of post-J.D. litigation experience and passion for appellate work. Interest and experience in federal criminal law is also preferred.

Applicants must demonstrate a quick analytical ability and an ability to synthesize a wide range of data, help direct an investigation and have the ability to accurately and precisely articulate the critical issues in a case. Applicants must demonstrate superior oral and writing skills, strong research and interpersonal skills, and good judgment. Applicants must possess excellent communication and courtroom skills, and exhibit the ability to work in a supportive and professional manner with other attorneys, support staff and client agencies. Applicants must have a demonstrated capacity to function, with minimal guidance, in a highly demanding environment and in the highest ethical manner.
