The Role</h2>
As an AI Researcher at Crosby, you'll play a critical role in advancing the capabilities of our AI systems. You&rsquo;ll explore, develop, and apply state-of-the-art techniques in LLMs and applied NLP to improve how our platform understands, analyzes, and reasons over complex legal documents.
You&rsquo;ll work closely with engineers, data scientists, and legal experts to translate research ideas into production systems. This role is for someone who is deeply curious, technically rigorous, and motivated to push the boundaries of what AI can do in high-stakes domains.<h2 class="jobSectionHeader">

Advance model capabilities: Research and develop novel approaches to improve performance on tasks like document understanding, clause extraction, reasoning, and negotiation.</li><li>

<div>The New Republic is looking for journalists with up to five years of professional fact-checking experience for the position of reporter-researcher. An institution of liberal journalism in America, The New Republic has sought to develop a distinctive and independent approach to political analysis, cultural commentary, and deep reporting. Reporter-researchers play a key role in carrying that tradition forward. 


The primary role of reporter-researchers is to fact-check the articles that go into our monthly magazine&mdash;political coverage, investigative features, profiles, columns, and discursive essays. TNR is seeking people with demonstrated experience performing such work, who have experience covering news quickly and on deadline, who are obsessive about details, who are comfortable searching archives and databases, and are dogged in coming up with ways to reach sources and confirm information. Occasionally, reporter-researchers also are called upon to fact-check web-only stories or provide advance research for an article in progress. 


While fact-checking remains the primary component of the job, reporter-researchers are also encouraged to pitch ideas and write. We are looking for applicants with a sharp, lively writing style who can identify original angles on the news and who possess the initiative to pursue them. 


Finally, candidates should be skilled at working in CMS platforms, and adept at docking stories and adding the appropriate elements quickly and correctly so our print articles can appear online. Self-starters able to juggle multiple projects or tasks simultaneously will thrive in this role. 


This is a full-time remote position, but you must be based in one of the following regions: Connecticut, Maryland, New Jersey, New York, Virginia, Washington, D.C., Illinois, or Florida. The salary is $60,086 and includes a competitive benefits package, with a projected start date in early April 2026.
