The Advanced Practice Manager is accountable for ensuring the delivery of consistently high-quality patient care and supporting the development of the AMC Program for Substance Use and Addiction Services (PSAS) advanced practice staff. Drawing on a deep understanding of clinical addiction care and PSAS practices and policies, the advanced practice manager will continually assess clinical issues including scope of practice guidelines and practice protocols.<br>

This role works collaboratively with PSAS&rsquo;s administrative, nursing, and physician leaders, as well as, with each advanced practitioner. S/he will lead and participate in team building, scheduling, ensuring clinical coverage, quality improvement, and staff development. S/he will establish and maintain a professional practice model that supports high quality, efficient care for patients and families in an environment that fosters professional mentorship, collaboration, and support.<br>

Supervises and coordinates the work of inpatient and outpatient advance practitioners in PSAS to provide the highest quality of care to patients and meet the goals/needs of the program:</p><ul><li>Interviews and hires new staff in collaboration with PSAS administrative and physician leaders.</li><li>Ensures all advanced practitioners are appropriately credentialed and licensed.</li><li>Establishes and/or maintains orientation and training materials appropriate for each role group and in accordance with regulatory requirements. Provides competency-based orientation for all new staff.</li><li>Provides coaching and evaluates performance, completes annual evaluations, and ensures competency and ongoing compliance with job requirements and standards. Clinical Education Systems Coordinator

Full-time (40 hrs) 3-13-hour shifts plus one hour of education every week. Shifts are 6am-7pm and 6pm-7am with one hour overlap for sign out and to sort out pending patient care issues.<br>
<br>
Ellison 14 ICU patient populations are adult complex surgical patients including burns along with acutely ill medical patients (i.e. both SICU and MICU-type patients). While Ellison 14 is the official &lsquo;Burn ICU&rsquo; at MGH and has a storied history of caring for critically ill burn patients, currently, thermal burns constitute a minority of our patients (&lt;10%).

Ellison 14 ICU has a &lsquo;closed ICU&rsquo; model. All patients on the unit are cared for by the same team. Our APPs are the primary ICU care providers, supported by admitting surgical teams and consultants. Our multispecialty care team model, in-line with other ICUs at MGB, is based on responding clinicians (APPs and residents) supervised by 24/7 in-house attending ICU staff physicians and supported by critical care fellows.

The job includes, but is not limited to critical care interventions, intensive care monitoring, diagnosing and prescribing treatments, therapeutics, and medications, coordinating referrals and discharging patients from the ICU. We emphasize and expect responsible, collaborative decision-making from our APPs, within their full scope of supervised practice. We encourage procedural excellence.

In collaboration with a multidisciplinary care team, they would be responsible for establishing, implementing, and evaluating the ICU course of treatment and the coordination and communication of the treatment plan. The APP will have a key role in patient and family teaching, while promoting competent, compassionate nursing care for patients and relatives. They will serve as a role model for professional nursing practice.

All new hires go through a detailed on-boarding experience and several weeks-long orientation at MGH ICUs tailored to their background and prior experience.<br>

Join a dynamic inpatient oncology team. Work within one of our two subspecialty groups with APPs that specialize in either 1) solid tumor, caring for an oncology patient population who are admitted for medical complications, new diagnoses, and treatment-related side effects, or 2) hematologic malignancies, caring for patients receiving bone marrow transplant and cellular therapies. This role offers the perfect blend of autonomy and collaboration. You&rsquo;ll work closely with oncologists and an interdisciplinary team to deliver cutting-edge care on either our solid tumor or hematologic malignancy service. The MGB Cancer Institute is seeking a full-time Nurse Practitioner (NP) or Physician Assistant (PA) to join the Infusion Unit and ambulatory practices at Mass General Hospital in Boston, MA. The Infusion Unit APP Specialist will work in a recently developed role embedded within our adult infusion unit to serve as an infusion unit first responder, promote infusion services access and efficiency, provide oncology urgent care/symptom management and provide generalist coverage within our ambulatory hematologic malignancies programs for anticipated leaves and absences.

Join a large and supportive ambulatory oncology and infusion service line Advanced Practice Team in a role that specializes in the care of patients with a variety of medical oncology diagnoses. With an interdisciplinary team approach, this provider will promote a collaborative relationship between providers, professional nurses, research personnel and administrative staff, to provide safe, quality care in compliance with clinical trial protocols across the care continuum.

APP Responsibilities:

<ul><li>While on the adult infusion unit, the APP oversees the care of patients with hematologic and oncologic disorders, serves as a first responder for acute reactions and medical emergencies, partners with primary disease center providers to care for complex oncology patients awaiting hospital admission and collaborates with the Cancer Institute weekend first responder team to provide access for urgent evaluation and symptom management during off-hours.
</li><li>The NP/PA is also responsible for collaborative care of the patient with benign hematological disorders receiving care in the adult infusion unit.
</li><li>While in the cancer institute ambulatory practices the APP Specialist is responsible for the care of oncology patients in the outpatient setting, specializing in either solid tumor malignancies or hematologic malignancies in partnership with primary disease center APPs, physicians, practices nurses and administrative support team members.
</li><li>Flexibility in scheduling as this position may require weekend, holiday and evening coverage as well as variable weekday assignments.

GENERAL SUMMARY/ OVERVIEW STATEMENT: Clinical Pharmacists assume responsibility and accountability for the provision of safe, effective, and prompt medication therapy. Clinical Pharmacists proficiently provide direct patient-centered care and integrated pharmacy operational services in a practice setting with physicians, nurses, and other hospital personnel to deliver optimal medication therapy to patients with a broad range of disease states. These clinicians are aligned with target interdisciplinary programs and specialty services to deliver medication therapy management within specialty patient care services and to ensure pharmaceutical care programs are appropriately integrated throughout the institution. Pharmaceutical care services include but are not limited to assessing patient needs, incorporating age and disease specific characteristics into drug therapy and patient education, adjusting care according to patient response, and providing clinical interventions to detect, mitigate, and prevent medication adverse events. Clinical Pharmacists serve as a departmental resources and liaisons to other departments, hospital personnel, or external groups. They proficiently manage and facilitate the appropriate use of medications according to professional and regulatory standards. They also conduct clinical research and practice advancement projects as well as patient care quality and regulatory compliance initiatives designed to improve medication-use processes or pharmacy practice. Clinical Pharmacists provide medication and practice-related education/training and actively serve as preceptors for pharmacy residents and Doctor of Pharmacy students. PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Inpatient/Ambulatory Oncology Clinical Pharmacist: An Outpatient Oncology Clinical Pharmacist collaborates with and serves as a resource for nurses, physicians and other clinicians who participate in the management of the oncology/hematology patient as well as other patients receiving care at the MGH Cancer Center. He/she is responsible for coordinating and delivering pharmacy services in compliance with all applicable policies, regulatory agency requirements and state and federal laws. Job-specific Responsibilities: - Reviews and monitors patient treatment (chemotherapy and ancillary) medications for appropriateness based on current clinical and institutional guidelines as well as patient-specific criteria. - Monitors patients&rsquo; medication regimens for drugs interactions, toxicities, and cost-effectiveness. - Assesses all medication orders to ensure they meet established standards and practice guidelines of MGH Cancer Center. Reports order discrepancies to appropriate staff promptly. - Advises clinicians on drug selection based on current clinical guidelines to optimize drug therapy. - Oversees the safe handling and preparation of various medications, including IV chemotherapy, IV antiemetics, IV steroids, and investigational chemotherapy drugs for outpatient and inpatient use. - Checks admixtures for accurate preparation, including the additive(s), parent solution, and label. - In conjunction with the Senior Attending Technician, oversees technician activities and performs quality control checks. - Accesses current clinical trial documents when reviewing clinical trial orders to ensure accuracy. - Maintains investigational medication logs. - Maintains current patient information files and records in the pharmacy department to maintain and support safe and consistent drug administration. - Adheres to safety requirements in the handling and preparation of chemotherapy and other hazardous agents according to current guidelines (USP 797, ASHP, NIOSH). - Oversees the ordering, storage and handling of medications and supplies. - Participates in education activities such as inservices. - Answers drug information questions. - Participates in the Safety Reporting System. Identifies and reports therapy errors and adverse drug reactions. - Participates in the training, education and mentoring of other pharmacists and technicians and precepting of pharmacy students. - Participate in area specific staff and department meetings as necessary. - Participates in quality, safety and other project work outside of regular staffing duties. - May participate in research activities with publication or presentation at local and/or national meetings. - Assists in the development of policy and procedures. - May educate patients and their families to ensure their understanding of the goal, administration schedule and toxicity management of chemotherapy treatment and documents the activity and interventions in the medical record. QUALIFICATIONS: BS or PharmD degree in Pharmacy Valid license to practice as a pharmacist in MA Completion of ASHP accredited PGY1 Pharmacy Residency preferred. Clinical pharmacy experience (2-4 years) in a hospital setting preferred (required if no PGY1 residency). Exceptional aptitude or knowledge may be considered in lieu of experience. Extensive clinical experience and development may be considered in lieu of formal training. SKILLS/ ABILITIES/ COMPETENCIES REQUIRED: 1. Knowledge of contemporary hospital/clinical practice and service 2. Knowledge and understanding of general hospital operations and regulatory compliance. 3.
