UAA Peer Advisors are a vital part of the academic support network, serving as the first point of contact for students seeking guidance. Housed within the academic advising department, Peer Advisors provide peer-level support on academic processes, institutional resources, student success strategies, and key university technologies. While not a substitute for professional advisors, they play a critical role in helping students navigate registration, course prerequisites, financial aid basics, and tools like DegreeWorks&mdash;ultimately enhancing understanding of university policies, reducing wait times, and fostering a sense of belonging.</p>
<p>
Successful Peer Advisors are approachable, dependable student leaders who enjoy helping others. They should have strong communication skills, a basic understanding of UAA&rsquo;s academic systems, and a willingness to learn and apply university policies. The ability to problem-solve, work collaboratively, and maintain professionalism in a fast-paced student services environment is key to supporting fellow students effectively.</p>

Minimum Qualifications:</b></p>

Student Intern positions may be established and allocated to all job classes within the series. The interns are assigned and perform duties of progressive difficulty and complexity, under diminishing levels of supervision, as the intern successfully completes corresponding stages of the established training plan and evaluative criteria.
