The Department of Public Utilities (DPU) is the state agency responsible for overseeing investor-owned electric power, natural gas, and water companies in Massachusetts. It regulates the safety of bus companies, moving companies, transportation network companies, and oversees the safety of natural gas pipelines and the MBTA.</p><p><b>
Job Description:</b></p><p>
As the Assistant Director, you will be a key member of the Siting Division leading interdisciplinary project teams that review the siting of proposed major energy facilities. These include: clean energy infrastructure facilities (such as renewable electric generating facilities, energy storage, and electric transmission lines and substations); and legacy energy facilities (such as intrastate natural gas pipelines; fossil-fueled electric generating facilities, and large LNG storage facilities). The Assistant Director plays an important role by directing the work and priorities of technical staff, overseeing the review and analysis of energy project proposals, attending public hearings, directing and reviewing sections of agency decisions, and advising agency staff and EFSB members.</p><p>
For clean energy infrastructure facilities, the Siting Division will review and prepare decisions for consolidated permits, which comprise permits and approvals that are normally issued by other state, regional, and local agencies. Siting Division reviews include evaluation of need for the project, alternative project options (such as energy efficiency, advanced transmission technologies, and distributed energy resources), environmental impacts and mitigation measures, cumulative impact analysis, public health and climate impacts, cost-effectiveness, and consistency with state energy/environmental policies, statutes, and regulations. EFSB siting authority also includes construction permits for fossil fuel facilities, exemption from local zoning, eminent domain for needed energy facilities, and other matters. MassDOT interns have the chance to work with some of the most highly respected engineers and specialists in the state. Duties include going on site visits, working on exciting and significant projects, and delivering quality work that has a positive and lasting influence on transportation in the Commonwealth. The internship also provides an opportunity to network with professionals across the state.</p><p>
The Engineering Internship Program typically runs 12 weeks from June through the end of August. Students must commit to a full‐time schedule for the internship period.</p><p><b>
Duties and Responsibilities</b></p><p>
Engineering interns will be assigned throughout the Aeronautics Division and may assist MassDOT engineers in the following areas:</p><ul><li>

The Radiology Department at Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center, an affiliate of Harvard Medical School (HMS), is seeking enthusiastic applicants for a full-time radiologist faculty position in Cardiothoracic Radiology. The position has become available due to substantial growth and diversification of clinical services. Candidates will interpret a wide range of thoracic imaging studies including chest CTs, lung cancer screening CT, chest radiographs, and full spectrum of cardiovascular CTAs. Candidates should be eager to develop and lead specific clinical service lines at the main campus. All faculty members in our supportive team participate equally in a plain film call pool for weekend coverage.</div><div></div><div>
The Cardiothoracic Imaging Division at BIDMC has a strong international standing in education and research. The Cardiothoracic Imaging Section currently has 6 faculty members, a clinical fellowship program with 2 clinical fellows and a dedicated research fellowship, the Sven Paulin Research Fellowship in Cardiothoracic Imaging. Hospital-based facilities span over two main campuses and include conventional radiographic units, 12 multidetector-row scanners, two of them with top-notch cardiac imaging capability, and two procedural CT suites, as well as dedicated cardiac MRI units. The division treasures its close collaborative relationships with referring services, and its contributions to several multidisciplinary conferences per week are highly valued by their clinical colleagues. Traditional research interests of Cardiothoracic Imaging Section include the imaging of airway diseases, interstitial lung diseases, chronic obstructive pulmonary disease, oncological imaging, functional respiratory imaging, radiation dose reduction, cardiopulmonary interactions, structural heart disease, cardiovascular diseases in women, and assessment of novel CCTA applications. The Cardiothoracic Imaging Division runs a successful CT Lung Cancer Screening program.
