We are seeking an experienced attorney to join the Reinsurance Legal Team within General Insurance (GI) at AIG.
The team is comprised of attorneys and other professionals providing high quality advisory, transactional and regulatory support across GI on ceded and assumed reinsurance-related matters globally. This role will support projects that are time-sensitive, highly visible inside and outside of the company, and key to AIG&rsquo;s strategic initiatives. This position reports to the Deputy General Counsel for Reinsurance.
Specific Responsibilities Include:
As a leader, you are respected for your deep technical expertise and/or ability to oversee programs and processes. You balance the needs of multiple stakeholders and competing priorities. Ultimately, you take ownership for key outcomes. The successful candidate will have the opportunity to work on a wide variety of matters and interact directly with senior business leaders within AIG. Specific duties will include, but not be limited to:<ul><li>
Negotiating the legal aspects of GI&rsquo;s ceded reinsurance treaty programs globally across all property and casualty business lines.</li><li>
Advising on reinsurance-related aspects of strategic transactions at AIG, including M&amp;A, capital markets and insurance-linked securities (ILS) matters.</li><li>
Advising multiple business units on ceded and assumed facultative reinsurance transactions.</li><li>
Analyzing the contractual aspects of internal reinsurance arrangements within AIG.</li><li>
Working with AIG&rsquo;s Multinational business, operational and legal teams to structure and implement the reinsurance aspects of complex multinational programs around the world.</li><li>
Drafting and negotiating reinsurance and collateral documentation to implement captive reinsurance programs globally.</li><li>
Working closely with AIG attorneys around the world to address legal, regulatory and compliance issues of all types related to reinsurance matters.</li><li>
Overseeing and managing reinsurance disputes and claims issues.</li></ul>
Education/Experience:<ul><li>
Juris Doctor required; U.S. state bar admission.</li><li>
Minimum of 6+ years of legal experience with a law firm and/or in-house counsel.</li><li>
Experience with (re)insurance matters and (re)insurance-related corporate transactions preferred.</li><li>
Ability to manage multiple projects and assignments in a fast paced environment.</li><li>

The duties that the incumbent of the vacancy will be expected to perform. Duties Description The New York State Unified Court System’s Office for Justice Initiatives (OJI) oversees the implementation of programs that aim to provide equal access to justice in New York State Courts, judiciary civil legal services programming, New York’s problem-solving courts, child welfare, and juvenile and adolescent justice initiatives, including implementation of legislation raising the age of criminal responsibility in New York, and the court system’s Equal Justice Initiative. <div>Weber Gallagher has an immediate opening for an Associate Attorney to join the civil defense litigation group in our New York City office, working on a broad range of general liability litigation matters including personal injury, motor vehicle, property damage, construction and labor law, and product liability. Our New York practice has experienced exponential growth over the last year, and we are searching for another great addition to our team! The successful candidate will have at least three years&rsquo; experience litigating civil cases/claims, excellent written and verbal communication skills, and will be licensed to practice law in New York at the time of hire.

Responsibilities:
<ul>
<li>Manage a diverse caseload from inception through resolution.</li>
<li>Draft pleadings, answer written discovery, take depositions, and participate in arbitrations and trials.</li>
<li>Take and defend depositions of parties, fact witnesses, and expert witnesses.</li>
<li>Conduct comprehensive legal research and analysis to develop sound case strategies.</li>
<li>Communicate with clients, the court, witnesses, opposing counsel, and co-counsel.</li>
<li>Provide regular and timely updates to clients on case status, strategy, and potential outcomes.</li>
<li>Work collaboratively with partners, associates, and legal staff.</li>
<li>Manage cases while adhering to billing and budget requirements.</li>
<li>Ability to travel for court, client meetings, etc.</li>
<li>Ability to work a hybrid schedule.</li>
</ul>
Requirements:
<ul>
<li>3-7 years of experience, preferably in defense litigation.</li>
<li>J.D. from an accredited law school.</li>
<li>NY bar license, active and in good standing, required.</li>
<li>Strong research, writing, and analytical skills.</li>
<li>Excellent communication skills.</li>
<li>Proven track record of success in courtroom appearances, depositions, and settlement negotiations.</li>
<li>Demonstrated interest in defense litigation.</li>
<li>Clerkship experience, a plus.</li>
</ul>
This position offers a salary range of $130,000 &ndash; $170,000 and is based on a variety of factors including education, experience, and internal equity.
