This new unit will provide a new team of APPs caring for the Cardiac Surgery ICU patient population on a neighboring unit of the CVSICU. This full time position will also work alongside the ICU intensivists and cardiothoracic surgeons.

Join our esteemed team at Johns Hopkins Hospital as an Advanced Practice Provider on the Cardiovascular Surgical Team. We are working to open an extending 4 to 6 bed unit on an additional floor that will take care of ICU level cardiac surgery patients in order to accommodate the rapid growth of the Heart and Vascular Institute. We are dedicated to providing exceptional patient care, conducting groundbreaking research, and educating future medical professionals.
Position Overview:

We are seeking a skilled and compassionate Advanced Practice Provider (Physician Assistant or Nurse Practitioner) to join the Heart and Vascular Institute in taking care of pre and postoperative high acuity cardiac surgery patients. This full time position will consist of a model of providing comprehensive care of ICU level multiple units alongside ICU intensivists and cardiothoracic surgeons. These patients will be on a neighboring floor from the main base of the CVSICU but will be cared for by the same cardiothoracic surgeons and ICU intensivists. Due to a different location, these patients will be patients who are not requiring mechanical circulatory support.
Schedule:

<li>50/50 Day/Off Shifts with opportunity for full time nights or weekend option</li>
<li>Including weekends, nights, and holidays</li>
</ul>
Responsibilities:
<ul>
<li>Collaborate with the interdisciplinary healthcare team to assess, diagnose, and manage critically ill patients at an ICU level. Patient population currently excluded on this unit include but are not limited to: patients with open chest, requiring mechanical circulatory support (ECMO, Impella, IABP, etc.).</li>
<li>Conduct comprehensive patient assessments, develop and implement evidence-based treatment plans, and evaluate patient responses to interventions.</li>
<li>Perform invasive procedures, including but not limited to central line placement, arterial line placement, chest tube removal and pacer wire removal.</li>
<li>Provide education and support to patients and their families regarding their condition, treatment options, and discharge planning.</li>
<li>Participate in multidisciplinary rounds with ICU staff as well as the cardiology, pulmonology and cardiothoracic surgery teams.</li>
</ul>
Requirements:

<li>Physician Assistant Certification from Accredited Program</li>
<li>Preferred (not required) ICU and/or cardiac surgery clinical experience</li>
<li>Strong clinical assessment and critical thinking skills, with the ability to make autonomous decisions in a fast-paced environment.</li>
<li>Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with multidisciplinary teams.</li>

<div>The Behavioral Pharmacology Research Unit is seeking a Research Program Coordinator who reports to the Sr. Clinical Research Manager. Researchers at Johns Hopkins University conduct clinical trials and clinical studies to discover new ways to prevent and treat diseases and other health problems. The Clinical Research Coordinator administratively coordinates clinical protocol implementation, typically for a single study. Will ensure the efficient logistical implementation of the study activities and provide administrative support for research-related regulatory issues. 
Specific Duties &amp; Responsibilities<ul><li>
Coordinate all activities of a clinical research study to ensure adherence to protocol and validity of findings.</li><li>
Participate in clinical study start-up meeting.</li><li>
Assist research nurses, study coordinators, principal investigators, and other study personnel in executing protocol-related activities.</li><li>
Explain the study background and rationale for the research to potential and current participants.</li><li>
Contribute to the development of recruitment strategy for participants for assigned study.</li><li>
Implement a variety of techniques for recruitment as appropriate, e.g., print and web-based advertisements, contact referring physicians, participate in community events, etc.</li><li>
Independently conduct the consenting process or ensure consent is obtained on appropriate participants.</li><li>
Schedule participants for required activities and provide any special instructions prior to upcoming tests/exams.</li><li>
Serve as liaison to study participants.</li><li>
Assist with setup of the data collection system and enter and organize data.</li><li>
Assist in coordinating study meetings.</li><li>
Participate in study meetings and provide updates on protocol implementation status and make recommendations on operational issues.</li><li>
Assist with the preparation of submissions to the Institutional Review Board (IRB)</li><li>
Liaison with IRB on administrative matters and facilitate communications with the PI.</li><li>
Conduct literature searches to provide background information.</li><li>
Obtain and maintain excellent operating knowledge of assigned clinical protocol, clinical equipment, and clinical computer systems.</li><li>
Oversee budget expenditures for study operations.</li></ul>

Prepare study materials for bi-annual quality assurance checks.</li><li>

Contribute to BPRU initiatives outside of study related tasks. Such responsibilities may include mentoring of new staff, assisting with events, leading new program initiatives, and performing document and data checks.</li><li>
