There will be occasions where shop mechanics must operate vehicles and equipment used for diagnostic purposes as well. They frequently stand for long periods of time and often kneel, bend, lay on their backs, etc. to perform repairs, services, and/or maintenance.
o Working Conditions: Shop Mechanics are constantly working in the repair shop to perform their tasks and duties. Work is performed on even surfaces on a hard floor in the shop. There is exposure to dirt, grease, fumes, cuts, bruises, strains, loud noises, etc. To combat these potential dangers and risk hazards, Shop Mechanics must follow strict safety procedures, proper equipment safety, and PPE. Field technicians are working outdoors or onsite at customer locations and are exposed to the elements in addition to dirt, grease, fumes, cuts, bruises, strains, loud noises, etc. Field technicians are required to maintain both safety PPE and safe driving records daily.

The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions.

<div>Job Responsibilities:<ul><li>
Layout, fabricate, assemble, install, and maintain mechanical piping systems which include industrial processing systems, and high-pressure piping systems according to the working drawings.</li><li>
Cut and bevel pipe using oxy-fuel cutting torches, mechanical beveller&rsquo;s or a combination of power and hand tools.</li><li>
Must be proficient in making rolling offsets, fish mouths, laterals and consistently fabricating pipe to the correct dimension.</li><li>
Measure, fabricate, and fit up butt-weld, socket weld, &ldquo;V&rdquo; grove pipe, valves, hangers, and threaded piping systems.</li><li>
Operate threading machine equipment.</li><li>
Ability to use rigging to move and get the pipe in place.</li></ul>
Qualifications / Requirements:<ul><li>
Minimum of three years of experience fitting a variety of pipes in an industrial environment.</li><li>
Proficient in the use of cutting torches, plasma arc, cutting machines, and rigid power threading equipment.</li><li>
Able to read isometric drawings of piping systems and draw ISO&rsquo;s of field run piping and fabricate from these drawings.</li><li>
Prior rigging experience is a plus.</li><li>
NCCER certification is a plus.</li><li>
State licensing may be required depending upon the state.</li></ul>
