</b></p><p><b>Clinical Technicians</b> at The Johns Hopkins Hospital have the opportunity to provide highly skilled and compassionate patient- and family-centered care as contributing members of the healthcare team. Ongoing education is provided to all Clinical Technicians to ensure that all techs perform at the highest level of their certification and scope of practice. During your first year, you will have the opportunity to attend eight days of training off the unit, which provide interactive learning activities to support your personal and professional development.</p>
<p><b>
Labor &amp; Delivery/Perinatal Inpatient Unit, Zayed 8,</b> includes six triage rooms, ten Labor/Delivery/Recovery rooms, 3 operating rooms, three Post-Anesthesia Care Beds (PACU), and over thirty inpatient beds for gynecologic services. You would care for pregnant undelivered women with high-risk maternal or fetal care requirements and low and high-risk delivered women (up to six weeks post-partum). The unit is one of only two Level IV Regional Perinatal Referral Centers for high-risk obstetrics in the State of Maryland and features a Fetal Therapy Program treating fetal conditions via intrauterine interventions throughout pregnancy.</p>

Education/Experience:</b>

<li>One year of clinical experience e.g., home care, outpatient, acute care (hospital preferred) technician experience during the most recent two years in a setting relevant to the unit; volunteer work as EMT or CRT may be considered.</li>

Principal Duties and Responsibilities:</b><br>
<ul><li>Maintains accurate and complete patient medical records, records pertinent routine information, files reports/test results, follows up on missing records/reports with appropriate parties, assembles medical records for patient discharge or transfer, and ensures that only authorized persons have access to them.</li><li>Acts as unit receptionist for hospital personnel, patients and visitors. Provides assistance to staff and patients/guests, frequently interacting and coordinating with other departments, to ensure prompt, courteous and effective delivery of care and responsiveness to patients/guests needs.</li><li>Maintains accurate unit records such as unit statistics, charges and logbook.</li><li>Maintains equipment and supply inventories. Maintains adequate supplies in appropriate areas throughout the shift per unit standard.</li><li>Observes appropriate safety measures and assists in maintaining a clean, orderly environment according to hospital and unit policies and procedures.</li><li>Assists with limited patient care duties such as passing trays and transporting of patients, when necessary and only as directed by nursing personnel.</li><li>Assists the professional staff in orienting new personnel to the unit.</li><li>Performs discharge phone calls to patients to solicit feedback on their hospital stay using the appropriate form.
