Under direct supervision of a licensed Nurse or other professional medical staff in a health care setting, performs a variety of clerical and health-related essential duties and responsibilities associated with patient care; performs related work.</p><p><b>

1. Checks vital signs, weighs, and measures patients, obtains specimens and records findings on patient&rsquo;s chart.</p><p>
2. Instructs patients on how to obtain specimens for laboratory testing and performs basic specimen screening<br>

3. Prepares collected specimens for pick-up by labeling and preparing required form(s).</p><p>

6. Performs simple first aid such as dressing changes, bandaging and cleansing of wounds, irrigation and cleansing of ears.</p><p>

9. Informs patients on proper preparation for various medical testing.</p><p>
10. Interviews patient to obtain routine personal and medical information and appropriate health history.</p><p>
11. Maintains, completes, processes and files patients&rsquo; charts, appropriate forms and documents.</p><p>
12. Reports observations of patient to clinical staff caring for patient to ensure professional assessment.</p><p>
13. Answers routine inquiries of patients in person or via telephone and makes appropriate referrals.</p><p>
14. Provides information to patients and their families regarding health care services and the achievement of<br>

15. Maintains inventory of the unit&rsquo;s equipment stock and supplies.</p><p>

19. Obtains blood specimens for laboratory testing by performing venipuncture and/or fingerstick testing.</p><p>
20. Operates electrocardiograph equipment to record electrical wave tracing of the electrical currents of the heart muscle.</p>

3. Holds, or obtains through facility orientation, a valid and current certification in Basic Life Support (BLS) through the American Heart Association (AHA).<br>

The NYU Acute Respiratory Failure and Sepsis Precision Interventions (ASPIRE) Trials Program seeks a full-time Research Data Associate to support several clinical studies. Our Trials Program conducts single- and multi-center clinical trials and cohort studies to advance understanding and improve care of patients with respiratory failure, pneumonia, and sepsis. The overarching theme of our research is to develop strategies to individualize clinical support to maximize end-organ protection and improve patient outcomes.</p>
<p>
The RDA will assist in the daily study-related activities of multiple studies and clinical trials involving patients in the ICUs and other inpatient units at NYU-affiliated hospitals. RDA must be comfortable working with critically ill adult patients on life support, the population of interest for most of the studies, and interacting with their family members. RDA must demonstrate excellent communication and interpersonal skills and be able to work effectively within a multiprofessional team that includes physicians, pharmacists, nurses, respiratory therapists, and research staff. Strong organizational skills, adaptability, and professionalism are essential to foster collaboration and ensure efficient trial operations. The ability to actively listen, resolve conflicts constructively, and contribute to shared decision-making will be critical to success in this role.</p><br>

<li>Interacts with patient/subject and families in a courteous and professional manner. Collaborates with various personnel that may be involved in assisting with specific aspects in the study.</li>

<p>Position Summary</p>
<p>
Under the general direction of the Sr. Clinical Care Manager, the Clinical Nurse Coordinator II, RN is responsible for assisting in the management of the delivery of patient care across two faculty practice sites and four divisions, including hospital-sponsored teaching clinic.</p>
<p>
Tasks include but are not limited to coordinating patient care; anesthetizing by local injection; assisting in surgical procedures; developing a nurse-patient/family relationship; and assessing and managing patients within all adult age groups from young adult to geriatrics. In addition to primary responsibilities within the Division of Dermatologic surgery, the Clinical Nurse Coordinator III, RN will be expected to assist as needed in other divisions within the Department of Dermatology.</p>

<p>Responsibilities</p>

<ul><li>Collaborate with physicians in the assessment, evaluation, treatment, and ongoing management of patients with dermatologic conditions.</li>
<li>Perform surgical procedures including local anesthesia, punch and shave biopsies, suture removal, and wound care.</li>
<li>Prepare, dilute, and draw up medications as needed for use in the faculty practice and Resident Clinic.</li>
<li>Assist with dermatology medical procedures including laser therapy, photodynamic therapy, and cosmetic procedures.</li>
<li>Assess patients using all available physical and diagnostic data, incorporating medical history, and evaluate patient status and progress with the current plan of care.</li>
<li>Provide coverage and assess patients during and after selected therapies; perform CPR.</li>
<li>Attend staff meetings, patient support meetings, and continuing education activities pertaining to the specialty as appropriate.</li>
<li>Participate in all quality improvement/process improvement initiatives.</li>
<li>Conduct comprehensive patient assessments, obtain accurate medical histories through effective interviewing techniques, ensure thorough and timely documentation in the medical record, and provide patient and family education regarding disease state, treatment plans, medications, side effects, and follow-up care.</li>
<li>Perform phone triage as appropriate and provide follow-up guidance and direction to patients based on the situation.</li>
<li>Participate in sign-out activities and patient follow-up.</li>
<li>Ensure compliance with applicable regulatory agency standards (e.g., OSHA, JCAHO, DOH, HIPAA, billing compliance, etc.).</li>
<li>Perform diagnostic testing and analysis of results.</li>
<li>Order appropriate laboratory supplies, follow up on results, answer pre- and post-operative questions, gather data, and act as a liaison.</li>
<li>Provide cross-coverage across clinical areas and perform other duties as assigned to support patient care, clinic operations, and departmental needs.</li>
<li>Perform other related duties and responsibilities as assigned/requested.</li>

<ul>
<li>Bachelor&rsquo;s degree in Nursing or equivalent in education and experience.</li>
<li>BLS certified.</li>
<li>Current New York State RN license.</li>
</ul>
<p></p><p>Preferred Qualifications</p>
<ul>
<li>0-2 years related experience. Clinical rotation experience associated with BSN degree programs will be applied toward related experience requirements.</li>
</ul>
<p></p><p>Other Requirements</p>
<ul>
<li>Knowledge of medical safety practices and ability to evaluate existing standards and implement new policies and procedures.</li>
<li>Knowledge of current clinical best practices and clinical state-of-the-art procedures.</li>

Graduate of a PCT program w/ at least 6 months hospital experience OR CNA graduate plus course completion in EKG &amp; Phlebotomy and PCT certification eligible plus at least 6 months hospital experience, OR PCT Certification through National Healthcareer Association (NHA) w/ at least 6 months hospital experience. BLS or Heartsaver CPR/AED certification. (Issued by the American Heart Association-AHA) OR Heartsaver CPR/AED certification (Issued by the American Heart Association-AHA) is required upon entry to the position Must complete PCT online program within 3 months of hire.<br>
Senior Nursing Attendant Minimum Qualifications: High School Diploma or equivalent Required. Graduate of Certified Nursing Attendant Program, certified as a CNA and at least 6 months relevant experience. BLS or Heartsaver CPR/AED certification (Issued by the American Heart Association-AHA) is required upon entry to the position. Competencies: Working knowledge of English is evident in verbal, reading and writing abilities; other language an asset; Strong customer service and communication skills..
