BMCs Teaching Innovation Unit explores nursing model redesign aimed at directing Registered Nurses (RNs) to work to the top of their license. RN&rsquo;s who are selected for this unit should be prepared to work on innovation teams that pilot, measure and evaluate the effectiveness of new technologies and workflows. The Teaching Innovation Unit&rsquo;s clinical setting is designed to provide an optimal teaching/learning environment through the collaborative efforts of RN leaders, healthcare team members and clinical education. POSITION SUMMARY: 
 
As a Patient Care Technician in our Critical Care department, you will be a key member of the healthcare team at BMC. Under the direction and supervision of the registered nurse (RN) and in accordance with hospital policies, procedures, protocols, and standards of practice, our Patient Care Technicians provide direct clinical and support services. Using our patient-centered care model and uplifted by a supportive nursing organization, you will participate in the delivery of care to our patients and their families. You will also work cooperatively with all healthcare team members to provide a variety of support services to meet patient, family, and staff needs.
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:<ul>

Perform a variety of appropriately delegated patient care interventions for patients in the Critical Care department and their families.</li>
<li>
Clinical services could include, but are not limited to: obtaining vital signs, bathing and feeding, dressing wounds, assisting with hygiene, cleaning rooms and linens, and emotional support.</li>
<li>
Perform a variety of environmental and inventory activities to ensure a safe, clean, and appropriately equipped environment for patients, visitors, and staff in the Critical Care dept.</li>

Contribute to the efficient operation of the Critical Care dept, ensuring quality patient/family clinical outcomes.

Certification in basic life support (BLS), including CPR certification (must be current or obtained within 30 days of employment)</li>

Where permissible, the Pharmacy Technician may also support immunizations, which includes the following responsibilities:<ul><li>
Completing additional licensure and training requirements, in compliance with state Board of Pharmacy regulations, to obtain Technician Immunizer status to support preparing and administering vaccines</li><li>
Educating patients about the importance of vaccines and referring patients to the Pharmacist-on-duty for vaccination questions</li><li>
Monitoring for, and responding to, adverse reactions; reporting adverse reaction events per public health requirements</li><li>
Reviewing and collecting patient information; tracking and documenting for each applicable patient</li><li>
Monitoring and managing vaccine supplies</li></ul>
Required Qualifications:<ul><li>
Must comply with any state board of pharmacy requirements or laws governing the practice of pharmacy, which includes but is not limited to, age, education, and licensure/certification<ul><li>
