Under direct supervision of clinical staff and therapists, the Orthopedic Technician is responsible for preparing/cleaning treatment areas, positioning patients, procurement and inventory of supplies and transporting patients. The Transplant Coordinator coordinates the clinical management of the transplant/VAD patient including the transplant/VAD evaluation, the transplant/VAD process and follow-up care. Provides clinical leadership to care team members, allowing staff to plan, direct, manage outcomes and evaluate care.
Advanced Heart Failure Unit:
<ul><li>24 bed Specialty Unit that provides high acuity cardiac care to patients with severe heart failure, pre/post heart transplant, the Total Artificial Heart, and pulmonary hypertension.</li><li>
Work with high tech equipment such as mechanical circulatory support including ventricular assist devices (LVAD, BiVAD) and telemetry monitors.</li><li>
Environment relies on 24 hours consistent communication and intricate interdisciplinary teamwork skills.</li><li>
Nurses handle 3-4 patients on this unit based on acuity level.</li></ul>

Department/Position Overview:
Burn Trauma is a 34-bed mixed Intermediate care and medical/surgical unit. There are 17 beds for stepdown/intermediate level of care. The patient population is neurosurgery, trauma, burns and orthopedic trauma. The intermediate care patients are received from both the Burn Trauma ICU and the Neurosurgical ICU. Also, there are 17 beds for Medical/Surgical level of care for neurosurgical, trauma, burns, orthopedic trauma, and bariatric weight loss (gastric bypass and gastric sleeves). Our nurses are trained to work both the intermediate and the medical surgical side. The nurse to patient ratio for the Intermediate Care beds are 3 to 4 and for the Medical/Surgical beds are 5 to 6. The Registered Nurse will work in a collaborative role as part of a team to maintain and support the standards of nursing care and practice, to meet the health care needs of patients, their families, and the community.

Associates, Bachelors, Masters, or diploma in the Nursing Field required</li></ul>
Certification/Licensure<ul><li>
Virginia or Compact Multi-State License in good standing</li><li>
Basic Life Support (BLS)</li><li>
ACLS</li><li>
NIH Stroke Scale</li></ul>
Experience<ul><li>
Must have 2 or more years of recent acute care hospital RN experience</li></ul>
