The Medical Assistant verifies patient information by interviewing the patient, recording medical history, and documenting purpose of visit. They prepare patients for examination, assist in procedures as appropriate and perform a variety of patient care tasks under the supervision of a licensed health care provider. Duties range widely from administrative to clinical. 
<div>Key Responsibilities:</div>
 
General:</div>
<ul><li>Maintaining patient privacy and always adhering to HIPAA guidelines.</li>
<li>Using computer applications- performing any data entry tasks to document patient demographics, records or note to file. Documenting patients' medical information, including medical history and review of symptoms within EHR of patients&rsquo; chart.</li>
<li>Managing office telephone system, including answering calls and returning messages.</li>
<li>Scheduling patient appointments and maintaining communication to confirm future appointments when necessary.</li>
<li>Informing patients on laboratory results and documenting properly within chart.</li>
<li>Updating and filing patient medical records and or any patient correspondence.</li>
<li>Coding and filling out insurance forms.</li>
<li>Transmitting prescription or refill requests as directed by provider.</li>
<li>Obtaining prescription authorizations for patient medications.</li>
<li>Reporting and recording applicable diagnosis of malignant results to the FCDS portal.</li>
<li>Creating certified letter communication for noncompliant patients needing treatment for malignant results.</li>
<li>Inform management of clinical supplies needed.</li>
</ul><div>Clinical Duties:</div>
<ul><li>Welcoming and greeting patients.</li>
<li>Maintaining HIPAA and always performing OSHA standards.</li>
<li>Taking medical histories, recording patients' chief complaint and documenting provider evaluation notes of visit in patients&rsquo; chart.</li>
<li>Monitoring and documenting patient symptoms for physicians' review during clinical exams.</li>
<li>Preparing patients for examination-Prepping exam rooms for clinical, surgical or cosmetic procedures and assisting providers during exams with patient care.</li>
<li>Preparing and administering medications as directed by a provider.</li>
<li>Explaining treatment procedures to patients.</li>
<li>Ensuring all consents are signed by the patient prior to provider performing any type of procedure.</li>
<li>Pre and post photos to be taken and documentation to be listed in detail for any procedure, biopsy or surgical along with cosmetic.</li>
<li>Collecting, labeling and preparing laboratory specimens.</li>
<li>Instructing patients about medication.</li>
<li>Removing sutures and changing dressings.</li>
<li>Maintaining proper cleaning of medical instruments and sterilization.</li>
<li>Reviewing office use medication and patient samples expiration dates.</li>
<li>Properly disinfecting and restocking of medical supplies in patient exam rooms.</li>
<li>Providing compassionate patient support and care, attention and assistance during office visits. Being a patient Liaison. Medical assistants are instrumental in helping patients feel at ease in the physician&rsquo;s office.</li>
</ul><div>Qualifications:</div>
<ul><li>Minimum High school diploma or equivalent.</li>
<li>Medical Assistant Certification strongly preferred.</li>
<li>Minimum of one (1) year of Medical Assistant experience, preferably in Dermatology or a closely related specialty; with a willingness and genuine interest to learn.</li>
<li>Ability to travel between clinic locations as needed and applicable to provider coverage.</li>
<li>Bilingual skills are a plus; not required.</li>
<li>Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills.</li>
<li>Strong verbal and written communication skills.</li>
<li>Ability to effectively prioritize work and adapt quickly to changing circumstances in a fast-paced environment.</li>
<li>Strong team player with the ability to collaborate and work cohesively with others.</li>
<li>Ability to maintain professionalism and composure under pressure.</li>
<li>Highly adaptable and receptive to change.</li>
<li>Strong multitasking skills with the ability to manage competing priorities.</li>
<li>Ability to work independently, exercise sound judgment, and make appropriate decisions with minimal supervision.</li>
