The Central Nervous System Advanced Practice Provider role supports the care of adult patients with central nervous system malignancies receiving radiation therapy. This Central Nervous System Advanced Practice Provider position is embedded within a specialized clinical team dedicated to delivering coordinated, patient-centered oncology care. 
 
At UT MD Anderson, the Central Nervous System Advanced Practice Provider collaborates with physicians, nurses, and multidisciplinary specialists to optimize outcomes for patients with brain and spine tumors. The department focuses on comprehensive care before, during, and after radiation therapy at the Texas Medical Center Main Campus. 
 
The ideal candidate for this role is a compassionate, team-oriented clinician with education and licensure appropriate for advanced practice provider practice. Preferred experience includes at least one year as an inpatient advanced practice provider or two years in an outpatient clinical setting. Candidates should demonstrate strong written and verbal communication skills, emotional intelligence, adaptability, and the ability to work effectively in a multidisciplinary environment. The selected candidate will be appointed as a faculty Instructor and be eligible for full faculty benefits. 
Primary responsibilities include management of patients in the surgical ICU or thoracic surgical ICU at Baylor St. Luke's Medical Center overnight from 6:30 PM to 6:30 AM. This will include a variety of general surgery, transplant, vascular, cardiothoracic and general thoracic patients.

Obtain detailed history and perform physical examinations.</li><li>
Perform, order, and interpret diagnostic procedures in accordance with relevant health concerns of the patient.</li><li>
Prescribes appropriate pharmacological and non-pharmacological treatments.</li><li>
Maintain records and write orders and progress notes in patient charts as to status, treatments, and procedures.</li><li>
Monitors and ensures accuracy of recording on patient medical records.</li><li>
Provide follow-up health maintenance care to patients in accordance with protocols established with the supervising physician.</li><li>
Communicate with physicians, patients, and the family members of patients concerning patient care.</li><li>
Collaborates with providers, and practice staff in identifying appropriate patients for care management.</li><li>

Minimum Qualifications</h2></div><div><ul><li>

Experience Required: None required.</li><li>
Certification/Licenses/Registration: Current license as a Physician Assistant by the State of Texas Physician Assistant Board or APRN license by the Texas Board of Nursing. Specialty certification as required by department. Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification.</li></ul></div></div></div>
