The Advanced Practice Manager is accountable for ensuring the delivery of consistently high-quality patient care and supporting the development of the AMC Program for Substance Use and Addiction Services (PSAS) advanced practice staff. Drawing on a deep understanding of clinical addiction care and PSAS practices and policies, the advanced practice manager will continually assess clinical issues including scope of practice guidelines and practice protocols.<br>

This role works collaboratively with PSAS&rsquo;s administrative, nursing, and physician leaders, as well as, with each advanced practitioner. S/he will lead and participate in team building, scheduling, ensuring clinical coverage, quality improvement, and staff development. S/he will establish and maintain a professional practice model that supports high quality, efficient care for patients and families in an environment that fosters professional mentorship, collaboration, and support.<br>

This role reports to the APP Director for Hospital Medicine and will collaborate with the clinical and administrative leadership of PSAS, as well as receive guidance and support from the Chief APP Officer, as well as collaborate with the Associate Chief Nurse for Medicine.<p></p><p><b><br>

Principle Duties and Responsibilities</p><p>
Patient Care Responsibilities:</p><ul><li>Maintains direct patient care weekly in PSAS clinical services.</li><li>Performs duties and responsibilities of an advanced practice nurse or certified physician assistant with expertise in Addiction care.</li></ul><p></p><p>
Supervises and coordinates the work of inpatient and outpatient advance practitioners in PSAS to provide the highest quality of care to patients and meet the goals/needs of the program:</p><ul><li>Interviews and hires new staff in collaboration with PSAS administrative and physician leaders.</li><li>Ensures all advanced practitioners are appropriately credentialed and licensed.</li><li>Establishes and/or maintains orientation and training materials appropriate for each role group and in accordance with regulatory requirements. Provides competency-based orientation for all new staff.</li><li>Provides coaching and evaluates performance, completes annual evaluations, and ensures competency and ongoing compliance with job requirements and standards. The MGB Cancer Institute is seeking a full-time Nurse Practitioner (NP) or Physician Assistant (PA) to join the Infusion Unit and ambulatory practices at Mass General Hospital in Boston, MA. The Infusion Unit APP Specialist will work in a recently developed role embedded within our adult infusion unit to serve as an infusion unit first responder, promote infusion services access and efficiency, provide oncology urgent care/symptom management and provide generalist coverage within our ambulatory hematologic malignancies programs for anticipated leaves and absences.

<ul><li>While on the adult infusion unit, the APP oversees the care of patients with hematologic and oncologic disorders, serves as a first responder for acute reactions and medical emergencies, partners with primary disease center providers to care for complex oncology patients awaiting hospital admission and collaborates with the Cancer Institute weekend first responder team to provide access for urgent evaluation and symptom management during off-hours.
</li><li>The NP/PA is also responsible for collaborative care of the patient with benign hematological disorders receiving care in the adult infusion unit.
</li><li>While in the cancer institute ambulatory practices the APP Specialist is responsible for the care of oncology patients in the outpatient setting, specializing in either solid tumor malignancies or hematologic malignancies in partnership with primary disease center APPs, physicians, practices nurses and administrative support team members.
</li><li>Flexibility in scheduling as this position may require weekend, holiday and evening coverage as well as variable weekday assignments.
