We are expanding our Advanced Practice Provider team in a state of the art 44 bed Cardiac Intensive Care Unit in a new Heart Center here at Boston Children&rsquo;s Hospital. We are looking for diverse and motivated individuals to join our team here in Boston. When you join our team you will work with a supportive group of Advanced Practice Providers, Attending Physicians and Fellows. You will be responsible for taking care of Pre and Post-operative highly acute cardiac patients, along with children who have cardiac medical needs in the intensive care unit. We have an extensive Orientation Program to prepare you for taking care of these critically ill patients and to thrive here at Boston Children&rsquo;s. <b>Key Responsibilities:</b><ul><li>
Providing care to infants, children, and adults with congenital and acquired heart disease.</li><li>
Caring for patients with both acute and chronic cardiac disease.</li><li>
Collaborating with the CICU Attending physician, to conduct patient assessment, medical history, physical exams, and diagnose health and developmental problems.</li><li>
Participating in CICU medical rounds, including presentation of clinical information, plan development and continued management and modification of the plan for patients throughout the shift.</li><li>
Pre and Post-Op care of critically ill cardiac patients that involves management of ventilators, inotropic support, ECMO, CVVH, emergency situations and sedation titration.</li><li>
Procedures such as Intubation and Central lines, will be taught in both Simulation and during real-time, hands-on events.</li><li>
Extensive Orientation Program with a designated preceptor, simulation and didactic classes along with hands-on experience. Access to in-person and Zoom lectures by Heart Center experts as well as electronic recordings on OpenPediatrics.</li><li>
Participation in ongoing research and committees in the CICU.</li><li>
Offer consultation and education to all staff, patients and families.</li><li>
Working 30 hours per week, up to 50% day/night rotation, up to every 3rd weekend, some holidays (including major)</li></ul><br>

Minimum Qualifications</b><br>
<b>Education</b>:<ul><li>
A graduate degree from an accredited Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant program.</li></ul><br>

Experience:</b><ul><li>
A minimum of 2 years of critical care RN, NP or PA experience.</li><li>
Possess a solid medical knowledge base for cardiopulmonary critical care medicine with an interest in congenital cardiac anomalies.</li><li>
Possess critical thinking skills and adaptability on a busy cardiac intensive care unit.</li><li>
Communication skills to work collaboratively with medical and surgical colleagues, staff and trainees.</li></ul><br>

As a member of the Acute Psychiatry Service (APS) Provider Team, the Advanced Practice Provider will assume the role of responding clinician in the assessment and care of patients with psychiatric and substance use disorders, including diagnosis, treatment, education, and management of the patient, in particular the patient awaiting admission to a psychiatric inpatient facility. The patient may be evaluated or seen in follow-up while in the APS, the main ED or an associated observation/ boarding unit.<br>

The APP will collaborate with all the members of the care team including EM and APS physicians, nurses, resource specialists, social workers, case managers, administrative staff, etc. to ensure optimal care.
