The Fischer Lab (https://fischerlab.dana-farber.org/) seeks a highly motivated individual to join the team as a <b>Research Technician</b>. The successful candidate will work closely with a senior postdoctoral fellow to advance multiple ongoing research projects focused on pediatric cancer therapeutics. The successful candidate can develop an independent project if there is interest. The role is bench-intensive and central to the lab&rsquo;s scientific progress.</p><p>
In addition to experimental research, responsibilities include selected aspects of laboratory management and organization.</p><p>
A research technician will provide additional training and structured support during the transition period. Training is available across all major experimental platforms in the laboratory.</p><p>

The Research Technician I is a full-time position in the MGH Center for Transplantation Sciences, under the direction of Drs. Joren Madsen and James Allan. This lab group has investigated the molecular and cellular mechanisms of transplant rejection, tolerance, and xenotransplantation in preclinical models for over 25 years. Primary responsibilities are to learn to perform experiments for research projects under supervision of principal investigator and laboratory manager. This includes performing bench side assays, assisting in the operating room, collection of and accurate recording of procedures and results, preliminary analysis of data, maintenance of databases used in the lab, tracking and ordering necessary reagents to conduct experiments, and participation in joint upkeep of the lab.<p></p><p><b><br>

Our group is interested in elucidating novel mechanisms of resistance in solid tumors to targeted cancer therapeutics such as kinase inhibitors or immune checkpoint inhibitors (Ryan MB et al. We are looking for a Research Assistant to participate in various projects in the laboratory. Working under direct supervision of the principal investigator, the candidate will be responsible for: 1) handling live mice to set up crosses, wean litters, collect tissue biopsies for genotyping, and inject various drugs, 2) extracting, dissecting, processing and sectioning cochlear and brain tissues from euthanized mice, 3) detecting mRNA and proteins of interest by in situ hybridization and immunohistochemistry, 4) preparing buffers and reagents for molecular biology, 5) performing gel electrophoresis, 6) acquiring images using epifluorescence and confocal microscopy, 7) assisting in general laboratory maintenance, including setting up of equipment, and organizing reagents and supplies. In addition, opportunities will be available to conduct gene expression analysis using R or Python in collaborative projects. Offering a broad exposure to standard experimental and analytical approaches employed in a molecular neuroscience lab, this position is ideal for individuals seeking to pursue graduate studies in biomedical sciences or medicine.
