For the Discover Nikkei/JABA intern, we are seeking someone based in Southern California who can help share community stories while also being introduced to the day-to-day practice of different fields of law. They will interview a pioneering Nikkei judge or lawyer, write several articles, and meet with various JABA attorneys and judges. The intern will also meet weekly with Kizuna for community and leadership training and networking.</p><p>
The intern must apply directly to the Nikkei Community Internship program. Each intern will receive a stipend upon completion of the program. (All interns, regardless of location, receive the same stipend.)</p><p><b>

<p>
The Library Foundation of Los Angeles (LFLA) seeks a curatorial intern to assist with planning and implementation of a special exhibition that will feature the fabrication of the newly-commissioned World&rsquo;s Largest Pop-Up Book. The project, produced in partnership with the Los Angeles Public Library (LAPL) as part of the centennial celebrations for LA Central Library, will open in mid-July 2026 and run through November 2026.</p><p>
This exhibition will highlight Central Library&rsquo;s Toy Movable Collection, an archive of over 1,000 intricate pop-up books, and explore the surprising significance of Los Angeles to the history of pop-up and movable books. The World&rsquo;s Largest Pop-Up Book represents a significant logistical and engineering feat, and the original artwork by Daniel Gonz&aacute;lez is sure to engage the library&rsquo;s diverse audiences. Since the show will open in the middle of the internship period, this will be a very exciting time to see behind the scenes of a unique large-scale exhibition in its final stages of development.</p><p>
The curatorial intern&rsquo;s tasks will include assisting with exhibition materials and displays during installation, development of content for the project website and social media, and regular communication with project team members, including LFLA and LAPL staff, the commissioned artist, paper engineer, designer, fabricators, and preparators. The intern may also assist with exhibition opening celebration logistics, and documentation needed for world record certification. Following the public launch of the exhibition additional tasks may include assisting with associated public programs and conducting original research for future exhibitions.</p>
