</p><p></p><p>The Hartford is seeking an Applied AI Engineer within EB Applied AI and Analytics to define, build, deploy, and sustain enterprise-scale applied AI solutions with significant business impact. This role carries accountability for complex, multi-domain AI systems in production and serves as a technical authority and strategic problem solver across the applied AI portfolio, while remaining hands-on with critical components.</p><p><b>
Team Description</b></p><p>
The Employee Benefits Applied AI and Analytics (EB AIA) team is a rapidly growing team focused on providing deep insight, automation, and augmentation across the policy lifecycle for Employee Benefits customers and internal business stakeholders. The EB AIA team supports a portfolio across the EB lifecycle, from sales and underwriting to policy installation, renewal, and everything in between. In addition to our existing portfolio of Predictive AI assets, the team is scaling to expand an end-to-end (E2E), AI-driven reimagination of the EB underwriting and service organizations. Our E2E projects will include integrated, interactive solutions with a toolkit including generative AI, agentic AI, natural language processing, computer vision, and predictive machine learning techniques. We deliver value by partnering closely with enterprise enablement and other line of business data science teams to help build a consistent approach to architecture and practices across AI products while tailoring solutions to our customers' unique needs in accuracy, transparency, and scalability.</p><p><b>
Responsibilities</b></p><ul><li><p>
Design, build, and maintain AI components and data pipelines that support applied AI use cases</p></li><li><p>
Contribute to the development and operation of batch and real-time data/AI pipelines supporting AI model training and inference</p></li><li><p>
Implement and maintain production AI assets in alignment with defined architecture, coding standards, and operational practices</p></li><li><p>
Collaborate closely with senior Applied AI Engineers, Data Engineers, Architects, Scientists to implement approved solution designs</p></li><li><p>
Support deployment, monitoring, and maintenance of AI services and workflows in production environments</p></li><li><p>
Apply established CI/CD, testing, and observability practices to ensure solution quality and reliability</p></li><li><p>
Assist in identifying, integrating, and validating data sources to ensure data quality and suitability for AI and analytics use cases</p></li><li><p>
Participate in code reviews, design discussions, and knowledge sharing to continue developing applied AI and data engineering expertise</p></li></ul><p><b>
Qualifications</b></p><ul><li><p>
3&ndash;6 years of experience in software engineering, data engineering, or applied AI / machine learning engineering</p></li><li><p>
Bachelor&rsquo;s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, IT, MIS, or a related discipline</p></li><li><p>
Working experience with Python and SQL</p></li><li><p>
Familiarity with data/AI/ML engineering concepts, including batch or streaming pipelines</p></li><li><p>
Exposure to deploying applications or data workflows in AWS, Azure, or GCP</p></li><li><p>
Ability to work effectively within defined architectural, security, and engineering</p></li></ul><p><i>
This role will have a Hybrid work schedule, with the expectation of working in an office 3 days a week

Compensation</b></p><p>
The listed annualized base pay range is primarily based on analysis of similar positions in the external market. Actual base pay could vary and may be above or below the listed range based on factors including but not limited to performance, proficiency and demonstration of competencies required for the role. The base pay is just one component of The Hartford&rsquo;s total compensation package for employees. Other rewards may include short-term or annual bonuses, long-term incentives, and on-the-spot recognition. The annualized base pay range for this role is:</p>
$100,960 - $151,440<p>
