<li>Pitch visually innovative and original approaches to coverage, demonstrating an understanding of the different platforms and audiences.</li>
<li>Work closely with WSJ. Magazine photo editors, WSJ newsroom photo editors, and our platform teams.</li>
</ul>You have:
<ul><li>1-3 years of experience working at a publication or in a similar role.</li>
<li>A deep love of photography, whether taking your own photos or scrolling endlessly on your favorite photographer&rsquo;s Instagram.</li>
<li>Excellent news judgment, fast digital editing skills and an expansive understanding of mobile-first experience and design.</li>
<li>Deep research skills, including newsgathering and social media tools.</li>
<li>Strong organizational, communication and collaborative abilities.</li>
<li>A creative vision and enthusiasm to spearhead and collaborate on new ideas.</li>
<li>A basic understanding of Photoshop and other photography-related software.</li>
<li>The ability to be a self-starter who is collaborative and works well with larger teams.</li>

This Associate Editor role requires a technically proficient and artistically skilled visual storyteller with collaboration and communication skills. The role requires a knowledge of video editing and motion graphics software and a desire to innovate and bring emerging techniques to projects. The ideal Editor/Animator will bring enthusiasm, creativity, and craftsmanship to the video elements of our client work, pitches, and internal projects.
Roles + Responsibilities:<ul><li>
Act as editing and animation resource on client video work</li><li>
Act as assistant editor and animator on internal initiatives like case studies and pitch videos</li><li>
Take direction from and collaborate with creative teams</li><li>
Organize and manage project files, assets, and media across editorial workflows</li><li>
Prep and build out Premiere and After Effects project files for production</li><li>
Translate scripts and briefs into edited pieces of video that clearly communicate the required messaging</li><li>
Participate in ideation of content for internal projects and client campaigns, leveraging understanding of visual storytelling, editing techniques, and motion graphic design</li><li>

Requirements

1-3 years of post-production, editing and animation experience</li><li>
Proficient in Premiere and After Effects</li><li>
Degree or equivalent experience in Design, Art, Filmmaking, Marketing, or a related field</li><li>

Strong conceptual thinker and problem solver able to approach a script from several different angles and provide options to the directing individual or team</li><li>

Benefits 
The salary band for this role is $60-$70K. Where a prospective new hire's base salary will fall within this band depends on several factors including their qualifications and experience, the skill level required in the role, market rates, and the salaries of existing crew members at Big Spaceship within the same role to maintain equity.</div>
