Position Overview 
 
L&rsquo;Alliance New York is looking for a Full-Time Preschool Assistant Teacher for its Manhattan Preschool; a French immersion program designed for preschoolers (ages 2.5 to 5.5). 
 
The Preschool Assistant Teacher will assist the Preschool Head Teacher. 
 
Responsibilities<ul><li>
Assist the lead teacher in implementing the curriculum and preparing materials for lessons, learning centers, and classroom activities.</li><li>
Supervise and engage children during play, circle time, meals, indoor and outdoor activities, and nap times.</li><li>
Ensure the physical safety of children by anticipating and removing hazards, observing children at play and rest, and responding appropriately to injuries.</li><li>
Support children with daily routines, including hygiene (toileting, handwashing, changing), transitions, and fostering autonomy.</li><li>
Maintain a safe, clean, and organized classroom environment.</li><li>
Help enforce rules, routines, and positive behavior management.</li><li>
Assist in documenting children&rsquo;s progress for assessments, portfolios, or reports.</li><li>
Communicate with parents as needed, under the guidance of the lead teacher.</li><li>
Replace the lead teacher in their absence, or when they are in a meeting, as required.</li><li>
Respect and uphold the school&rsquo;s philosophy, policies, and procedures.</li><li>
Support remote or online learning when necessary.</li></ul>
