Key Responsibilities (What You Are Doing)
<ul><li>Execute Esquire&rsquo;s social media strategy across Instagram, TikTok, Facebook, X, YouTube Shorts, and emerging platforms
</li><li>Produce and edit short-form, social-first video&mdash;primarily on mobile&mdash;for red carpets, premieres, live events, and in-office shoots
</li><li>Write compelling, platform-specific social copy that captures Esquire&rsquo;s distinct voice and drives engagement
</li><li>Package and publish editorial content using best practices tailored to each platform
</li><li>Monitor trends, breaking news, and cultural moments to inform timely and relevant content
</li><li>Collaborate with editors, video producers, and audience teams to create engaging social storytelling
</li><li>Test new formats, tools, and platform features to expand reach and audience growth
</li><li>Track performance metrics and apply insights to optimize future content and publishing strategies
</li></ul>Qualifications (What We&rsquo;re Looking For)
<ul><li>2+ years of experience in social media, preferably within a magazine, publisher, or digital media brand
</li><li>Strong mobile video production skills, including shooting and editing with an understanding of lighting, audio, pacing, and vertical storytelling
</li><li>Proficiency in Adobe Premiere Pro and/or CapCut, with familiarity using native platform editing tools
</li><li>Excellent writing skills with the ability to craft sharp, engaging, and voice-driven social copy
</li><li>Deep knowledge of TikTok, Instagram, Facebook, X, and emerging social platforms
</li><li>Experience covering live events, red carpets, or fast-moving cultural moments is a plus
</li><li>Familiarity with analytics and publishing tools such as SocialFlow, Parse.ly, Dash Hudson, TikTok Analytics, and Meta Creator tools is a plus
</li><li>Highly organized, adaptable, and able to thrive in a fast-paced, collaborative environment
</li><li>Passion for culture, style, entertainment, and the conversations shaping them
</li><li>Willingness to work occasional nights and weekends for live coverage
</li><li>This role is based in New York City and operates on a hybrid schedule (4 days in-office per week)

The base salary for this role is $65,280 &ndash; $68,000. This role may also be eligible for additional compensation and benefits.

<div>Artforum: Associate Editor

Artforum, the magazine of record for the contemporary art industry, is hiring an Associate Editor who will serve as the primary editor for columns, features, and reviews across Artforum's monthly print magazine and website. In addition to commissioning and editing short- and long-form content from staff and freelance contributors, the Associate Editor will contribute to both the print magazine and web platforms (including columns, features, interviews, and reviews) on a regular basis.

Requirements:

The Associate Editor is expected to be an exemplary editor and writer, with demonstrable knowledge of art history and contemporary art. Finely-honed editorial instincts, a flair for diplomacy, clear communication skills, an appreciation for different writerly voices/modes, punctuality with deadlines, and an ability to multi-task are imperative.

The position is based in our Midtown Manhattan office. PMC values in-person collaboration and team cohesion, employees work onsite 4 days a week and 1 day remotely with a focus on maintaining a vibrant and inclusive culture.

The ideal candidate will have:

<li>Some formal training in art history</li>
<li>Four or more years of experience editing texts</li>
<li>Some record of publications on contemporary art</li>
<li>Proficiency with standard business software programs, including Word, Excel, Outlook, and Zoom; if not familiar with publishing on WordPress, must be willing to learn</li>
</ul>
DUTIES

Commissioning:
<ul>
<li>Contribute ideas and feedback in weekly meetings with the entire editorial team</li>
<li>Regularly correspond with writers to commission pieces or field pitches, communicating on details such as scope, proposed argument, word count, deadline, and fee</li>
</ul>
Editing:
<ul>
<li>Edit columns and features, with emphasis on improving the relevance, clarity, and incisiveness of the argument</li>
<li>Collate and adjudicate additional proposed edits from the top-editors, fact checkers, and copy editors</li>
<li>Communicate and negotiate any proposed edits with the writers</li>
<li>Upload web columns to WordPress, including gathering images/captions, writing alt-text descriptions, and following SEO best practices.</li>
</ul>
Writing:

Contribute original content (including columns, features, reviews, and other content) to our print or web platforms on a regular basis as assigned and/or pitched

Ambassadorship:
<ul>
<li>Cultivate and maintain a network of freelance writers</li>
<li>Regularly attend press previews, art openings, fairs, and other events on behalf of the magazine</li>
</ul>
Additional duties, as assigned:
<ul>
<li>Drafting copy for social media and newsletters</li>
</ul>
A good faith estimate of the salary range is $66,500 - $70,000 upon hire. Factors that could be used to determine your actual salary may include your specific skills, years of experience and comparison to current employees already in this role.
