The Parsons Research Center for Psychedelic Healing (PRCPH) and the Division of Traumatic Stress Studies, joint projects of the Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai and the James J. Peters Veterans Affairs Medical Center (JJP VAMC), have an opening for a full-time clinical research coordinator to oversee day-to-day operations of research studies. Active and upcoming research studies include psychedelic-assisted psychotherapies for PTSD and trauma related disorders, generation of stem cells for in vitro investigations of molecular underpinnings of PTSD, and examination of biological changes associated with psychotherapy for PTSD.
This is an excellent position for a recent college graduate who wants to obtain research experience in preparation for graduate or medical school! In addition to the primary responsibilities listed below, there may be opportunity for a motivated individual to be involved in aspects of study design, grant preparation and/or scientific publications. Research coordinators may also have the opportunity to take on support staff roles at training and educational retreats.
Research is conducted at the JJP VAMC in the Bronx, the Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai on Manhattan&rsquo;s Upper East Side, and at PRCPH in Morningside Heights. Subject to study needs, hybrid remote and on-site work may be possible. The initial post will be for 2 years with possibility for renewal. 
Responsibilities<ul><li>
Conducts routine and standardized human subjects research using appropriate research or interview techniques specific to subject matter of the research project, under direct supervision of the Principal Investigator or senior clinical research staff.</li><li>
Assists in the activities related to clinical research including, but not limited to: obtaining informed consent, screening participants for eligibility, registering patients with sponsoring agencies, administering questionnaires and answering telephone calls.</li><li>
Assists in the collection, analysis and review of experimental data for publication and presentation.</li><li>
Maintains source documents and subject files in accordance with Mount Sinai policies and procedures. Ensures accurate, confidential and complete compilation of data.</li><li>
May secure and ship clinical specimens as required by the protocol.</li><li>
May assist in the preparation for regulatory agency site visits.</li><li>

Clinical Research Coordinator-Center for Psychedelic Psychotherapy and Trauma Research

<div>Description
We are seeking a Clinical Trials and Regulatory Affairs Manager for an exciting opportunity to help launch and establish the Center for Psychedelic Psychotherapy and Trauma Research (the Center) at the Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai in collaboration with its affiliate, the James J. Peters Veterans Affairs Medical Center in the Bronx (Bronx VA). The incumbent will also work on other clinical studies of Post-traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD)through the Traumatic Stress Studies Division, including a study designed to prevent the development of PTSD. The Center will provide novel clinical treatments with MDMA, psilocybin and other psychedelics through FDA-approved research protocols. The mission of the Center is to perform rigorous clinical trials on existing and novel psychedelic-assisted psychotherapies in trauma survivors, and to apply state-of-the art scientific methods to understand their mechanism of action. The Center seeks to provide education and training to therapists, medical residents, and trainees to position them to work with these therapies. The incumbent will be an integral member of the research and leadership team and will be responsible for programmatic support of all clinical trials as well as various existing project within Dr. Yehuda&rsquo;s laboratory. 
Responsibilities<ul><li>Plan and oversee regulatory activities for development of psychedelic assisted psychotherapy and other clinical trials; provide expertise and strategy</li><li>Based on deep understanding of clinical trial operations and management of clinical trials, you will be responsible for preparation of study protocols, case report forms, patient consent forms, study monitoring procedures, internal review board submission documents, clinical study reports, case study reports as well as study site contracts for FDA regulatory trials, investigator-initiated trials and pharma partner trial projects.</li><li>Manage the regulatory submission process and interactions with regulatory agencies such as FDA, DEA, and local IRBs. This includes maintaining continuing approvals from various committees and organizations (In-house: Scientific Committee, Institutional Review Board, Biosafety Committee)</li><li>Ensure compliance with GCP, and regulatory guidelines</li><li>Standardize all Center operations and establish clear, documented protocols</li><li>Submission of study amendments in a timely fashion including changes to the protocol, consent forms and other study documents</li><li>Prepare for and facilitate internal and third-party audits as necessary</li><li>Supervise research coordinators on all aspects of regulatory documentation and submission. <div>Description
We have an exciting opportunity to join our team as a full-time clinical research project manager in a high-profile, cutting-edge clinical research program on posttraumatic stress disorder (PTSD) under the direction of Principal Investigators Rachel Yehuda, Amy Lehrner, and Janine Flory. The project manager will be involved in research conducted by the Sinai Center for Psychedelic Psychotherapy and Trauma Research and the James J Peters VA Medical Center (Bronx). The project manager will create and execute plans for complex research projects that may include clinical trials and biological studies of PTSD. This position will include supervisory responsibility for research coordinators, and will answer to senior operations and investigative staff. The project manager will be responsible for oversight of: day to day operations of research studies, completion and maintenance of regulatory documents, facilitating project-related meetings and coordination with interdisciplinary research team. The manager will track project status and changes, notify management when issues arise, and assist with taking corrective action as needed.
Current studies in the lab include: clinical trials of psychedelic-assisted therapies, generation of stem cells for in vitro investigations of molecular underpinnings of PTSD, meditation for PTSD, and the use of hydrocortisone for patients being treated in emergency departments following a traumatic experience.

 Position Summary
 
 
 The Clinical Research Coordinator I will play an integral role in the coordination and conduct of research studies, including clinical trials in the Columbia University Irving Medical Center Department of Rehabilitation and Regenerative Medicine in the Programs of Physical Therapy (PT)
 
 
 
 Responsibilities

 Participate in the management and execution of clinical trials/research studies, and assist with clinical outcome measurements for individuals with neuromuscular and developmental disorders.

 Assist with clinical trial/research study data collection and data management.
 </li>
 <li>
 Explain the clinical research protocol to patients and their families in a clear, easy-to-understand manner, ensuring their questions are answered appropriately.
 </li>

 Obtain informed consent and/or oversee the informed consent process from research subjects prior to any study-related procedures.
 </li>
 <li>
 Effectively communicate with study participants to schedule, arrange transportation, interview participants for necessary medical history, and administer appropriate questionnaires.
 </li>
 <li>
 Operate equipment related to physical activity accelerometers and maximal cycle exercise tests, and obtain measurements of heart rate, blood pressure, and ratings of perceived exertion, which are necessary for participant safety.

 Assist with motor performance and gait assessments, and assist in the interpretation of the physical activity and exercise test data and statistical analysis of the study data.

 Assist the investigators in the design, planning, and implementation of new research projects.

 Assist in writing protocols, preparing grant submissions, and maintaining research files.

 Monitor adherence to regulatory requirements and Good Clinical Practice.
