The Commercial Driver provides excellent customer service and support in the warehouse by delivering products and materials to customers in an efficient, exact, prompt and cost-effectively.</p><p><b>
Responsibilities</b></p><ul><li>
Operate company owned vehicles for the delivery, pickup and relocation of company products and materials.</li><li>
Operate a Moffett or Piggy-Back forklift.

Inspect and maintain vehicle supplies and equipment, such as gas, oil, water, tires, lights, or brakes, to ensure that vehicles are in proper working condition.

General Role Description:</b></div><div><br>
MPA is seeking a motivated, positive, and driven Facilities Maintenance Technician to join the <b>Facility Maintenance Department</b>, in the underground utility division, at the MPA.</div><div></div><div><br>
This is the entry level of maintenance and construction work performing routine preventative and corrective maintenance tasks that ensure continued and uninterrupted operation of the MPA's various facilities and infrastructure. Examples of such tasks include maintenance repair and inspection of buildings, bulkheads, piers and related components; wharf log removal and installation as needed for vessel activity and cargo movement; underground utilities; water lines; sanitary lines; storm drain systems; patching, resurfacing and striping roadways and parking areas as well as assisting skilled trade workers.</div><div></div><div><br>
This is maintenance work requiring physical exertion, which is performed under all weather conditions or inside MPA buildings. On some assignments employees may be required to move objects weighing over 50 pounds and may also be required to work at high elevations or perform their job in cramped quarters in buildings or underground.</div><div><b><br>
Essential Duties and </b><b>Responsibilities</b><b>:</b></div><br>

Digs and repairs holes, ditches and culverts.</div></li><li><p>
Stripes the roadways and parking areas.</p></li><li><p>
Operates pieces of automotive maintenance equipment usually less than 26,001 pounds gross vehicle weight.</p></li><li><p>
Assists skilled trade workers in areas such as underground utilities, carpentry, plumbing, electrical, painting, etc.; in repairs and installation.</p></li><li><p>
May operate snow removal equipment when required.</p></li></ul><p><b><br>
Employees in this</b><b> class are considered essential employees and are subject to call 24 hours a day, as may be required in order to maintain continuous operation of a facility.</b><b> </b><b>Employees may be required to work rotating shift work, to include evenings, nights, weekends, and holidays. In the event of hazardous weather or highway conditions employees may be called to duty during off-hours in order to maintain and repair equipment. This is maintenance work and requires physical exertion that is performed either outdoors under all weather conditions or inside a building. Employees are required to work outdoors in all types of weather and may be required to move objects weighing over 50 pounds.</b></p><b><br>

Employees must possess a Class C motor vehicle operator's license valid in the State of Maryland. During the probationary period, employees will be required to obtain and maintain a Class A or B Commercial Drivers License (CDL) valid in the State of Maryland, depending on the type of equipment operated, that must be maintained for continued employment. This includes obtaining and maintaining a valid US DOT Medical Card (or MVA issues waiver) every two years.<br>

Note: Employees must meet all Department of Budget and Management policies required for operation of State-owned vehicles to continue employment.<br>

2. Candidates hired into the Facility Maintenance Technician I classification must satisfy the employing administration's training and certification program requirements during the probationary period.<br>

3. Employees in the Facility Maintenance Technician I, II and III classifications must satisfy the employing administration's training and certification program requirements to be eligible for advancement to higher levels.<br>

4. Employees seeking transfer to another administration must satisfy that administration's training and certification program requirements.<br>
