 Summary
 
 
 
 The Mayor&rsquo;s Office of Management and Budget (OMB) is the City government's chief financial agency. OMB's staff of analysts and experts assembles and oversees the Mayor&rsquo;s expense and capital budgets, which fund the services and activities of approximately 90 City agencies and entities.
 
 
 Within the Management and Operations Division of OMB, the Policy and Operations Research Task Force is primarily responsible for analyzing fiscal and economic impacts of the City&rsquo;s policy initiatives and evaluating City agencies&rsquo; operations and programs, as well as conducting ad-hoc quantitative analysis. The Data &amp; Analytics Unit conducts data-intensive work to facilitate these tasks &amp; modernize data workflows for other task forces at the agency. Primary responsibilities of the unit include building and maintaining an automated cloud pipeline that can collect, process and reflect budget-related data. The team works with units across the agency to identify technological solutions to improve data collection, processing and visualization.
 
 
 
 Job Description
 
 
 
 The Data Analyst &amp; Engineer intern will analyze complex data and become proficient in collecting, cleaning, and visualizing data to identify patterns, trends, and correlations. Responsibilities will include assisting OMB staff in building a data pipeline and working with cloud computing frameworks and platforms. As part of this workstream, the intern will collaborate with teams across functional areas to automate processing of data within cloud computing platform. Additionally, the intern will assist with preprocessing of structured and unstructured data, present information using data visualization techniques, and perform quality assurance testing on datasets and coding files. and assist in developing actionable recommendations to ensure the financial sustainability of services

 About The Role
 
 
 
 Scientific American seeks an editorial Intern who has an interest in science, health and environmental journalism. The News Intern will be fully integrated into our editorial team and contribute to our award-winning coverage of science discoveries, science policy, public health, social science, technology, and insights and innovations that matter.
 
 
 Scientific American&rsquo;s News Intern will report and write weekly news and analysis articles for the website and at least one short story per month for the print magazine's news section, Advances. The intern may also contribute to or assist with a variety of other editorial projects including, but not limited to: videos and podcasts, Q&amp;As, book reviews, infographics and other forms of visual storytelling, games, explainers and event coverage.
 
 
 This position pays $22 per hour and is full-time &mdash;up to 35 hours per week&mdash;for 5-6 months, starting in mid-June to December 2026. This position is located in our New York office on a hybrid working model.
 
 
 
 Experience, Skills &amp; Qualifications:

The Marketing Intern is based in NY, reports to the Marketing Manager, and is a part of the Marketing Team. The Marketing Intern works closely with the US marketing team on key projects for the business across our Connexity and Skimlinks products, for both client nurturing activities (newsletters, playbooks, customer events) and lead generation campaigns (performance marketing campaign, webinars, industry events).
Responsibilities:
In this role, you will assist with various marketing campaigns and collateral such as newsletters, playbooks, video-content marketing, and tradeshows. We are a small, yet agile marketing team, but we are very collaborative and eager to work alongside you. You will receive the feedback and knowledge you need to become a marketing associate.
As part of your internship, you&rsquo;ll be working on/and be responsible for key projects, including:
Data Intelligence &amp; Storytelling
$5 billion of sales were generated through our platforms in 2025. We are a data-driven company and leverage data for all our marketing collateral and campaigns. Analyzing our data and finding a compelling story for clients is an important priority; you will assist in both parts of this process, as well as sharing distilled insights across external comms &amp; content.
External Comms
Our Newsletter Program is a cornerstone of customer engagement for Skimlinks and Connexity in the United States. You&rsquo;ll play a key role in the creation of these newsletters delivering content insight and commercial updates weekly to help Publishers grow their commerce content strategies.
Content
Our playbooks are one of the ways we share retail industry trends, macroeconomic and microeconomic insights, and essential forecasts for the ecommerce space for both existing and new customers. You&rsquo;ll be assisting with sourcing data and insights from both our internal data systems and third-party resources to help publish these playbooks and decklets. You will work with the marketing team to ensure the data, formatting, and wording of these decklets and playbooks are correct, polished, and refined.
