 Overview

Pacaso is building a trusted network of pre-vetted contract designers to extend our internal design team as acquisition volume grows. This is not a traditional freelance posting. We are looking for experienced residential designers who want an ongoing source of well-defined, repeatable project work within a structured creative framework.

Contract designers work on a project-by-project basis &mdash; either per home or on a flexible retainer depending on pipeline needs &mdash; and are compensated on a flat project fee tied to FF&amp;E budget scope. Designers who complete a successful pilot engagement are added to the approved Pacaso Design Partner Roster and are prioritized for future assignments.

The Opportunity

Pacaso homes are co-owned luxury residences &mdash; designed to feel elevated, personal, and effortlessly livable for multiple owners year-round. Our internal design team leads all creative direction, but with 33 projected acquisitions in 2026 and peak volume reaching 3&ndash;5 homes per month in Q3 and Q4, we are building an external partner network to scale alongside us.

As a contract designer, you will execute full FF&amp;E design for individual Pacaso homes &mdash; from space planning through final documentation &mdash; working within Pacaso's brand standards, vendor frameworks, and production templates. The Senior Manager of Design reviews and approves all work at defined milestones.

Core Design Deliverables (per home)

How the Partnership Works

The Vetting Process

Every designer goes through the same process before being approved for a Pacaso home. This is a six-step process owned by the Senior Manager of Design:

<li>Initial outreach &mdash; brief introduction to Pacaso's model and partnership structure</li>
<li>30-minute discovery call &mdash; assessing communication style, bandwidth, and fit</li>
<li>Reference check &mdash; one to two past clients or collaborators</li>
<li>Deep dive on one completed project &mdash; walk us through budget, vendor choices, documentation, and install</li>
<li>Paid pilot engagement &mdash; one project together before formalizing the relationship</li>
</ul>
The pilot engagement is the most important step. It's an opportunity for both parties to experience the working relationship before making a longer-term commitment. Pacaso evaluates the work against our standards; you experience our process firsthand.

Once Approved

Approved designers are added to the Pacaso Design Partner Roster &mdash; a living document maintained by the Senior Manager of Design. There is no standing retainer or volume commitment. When a project is identified as appropriate for an external partner, we select from the approved roster based on market fit and availability.

With 5+ years of hands‑on California workers&rsquo; compensation claims experience, you will lead thorough investigations, guide complex claim strategies, and ensure fair, timely, and compliant resolutions. This role is designed for a seasoned adjuster who thrives in gray areas, particularly around California wage determination and Average Weekly Wage (AWW) calculations, and who can confidently defend those determinations when challenged. As a Claim Consultant, you will play a key role in delivering exceptional service to CCMSI clients while upholding our high standards of quality, accuracy, and responsiveness. This role also offers a strong development pathway into more senior claim positions. This is a full life‑cycle WC adjuster position within a TPA environment, and only candidates with proven Workers&rsquo; Compensation claims experience will be considered. Responsibilities: When we hire Workers&rsquo; Compensation Adjusters at CCMSI, we look for detail‑driven problem‑solvers who balance empathy with sound judgment, navigate complex regulations with confidence, and deliver fair, timely outcomes that support injured workers and strengthen client trust. Investigate, evaluate, and adjust Workers&rsquo; Compensation claims in accordance with established claim handling standards and California law. Independently manage complex indemnity claims, including those involving traveling employees and variable wage structures. Calculate and document Average Weekly Wage (AWW) in accordance with California Labor Code, including analysis of stipends, per diem, and living allowances. Establish reserves and/or provide reserve recommendations within established authority levels. Review, approve, or provide oversight of medical, legal, damage estimates, and miscellaneous invoices to determine if reasonable and related to designated claims; negotiate disputed bills as needed. Authorize and issue claim payments in accordance with claim procedures, industry standards, and established payment authority. Negotiate settlements within Corporate Claim Standards, client‑specific handling instructions, and applicable state laws. Assist in the selection, referral, and supervision of outside vendors (e.g., legal counsel, surveillance, case management). Assess and monitor subrogation claims for resolution. Review and maintain an accurate personal diary in the claim system. Prepare claim status reports, payment summaries, and reserve reports as requested. Compute and adjust disability rates in compliance with California regulations. Maintain effective, timely communication with clients, claimants, employers, attorneys, and vendors throughout the claim lifecycle. Attend and participate in hearings, mediations, WCAB proceedings, and informal legal conferences, as appropriate. Conduct claim reviews and/or training sessions for designated clients, as requested. Provide notices of qualifying claims to excess and reinsurance carriers. Handle more complex and involved claims than lower‑level claim positions with minimal supervision. Ensure compliance with Corporate Claim Handling Standards and special client handling instructions. Qualifications: Required Qualifications Five (5) or more years of California Workers&rsquo; Compensation claims experience, managing full life‑cycle claims. Demonstrated experience handling complex indemnity claims with minimal supervision. Hands‑on experience calculating California AWW, including claims involving stipends, per diem, or other non‑traditional wage components. Strong understanding of California Labor Code and WC regulations related to wage determination and benefit calculations. Ability to independently evaluate and defend wage determinations when disputed. Proficiency with Microsoft Office products, including Word, Excel, and Outlook. Adjuster license as required by jurisdiction; California SIP preferred or ability to obtain within the first year of employment. Preferred Qualifications Experience handling claims involving traveling or multi‑location employees. Prior experience in a TPA environment. Bachelor&rsquo;s degree preferred but not required. You will be responsible for the end-to-end customer experience in Beauty &amp; Personal Care and will provide various paid beauty services and personalized product advice. 
 
Customer Sales Experience

Educate beauty customers by demonstrating proper product usage and highlighting product features and benefits to help drive purchase conversion.

Display current and active Cosmetology/Esthetician license during all working hours in all locations in which they work as mandated by the state.

Required Qualifications<ul><li>

Physical Requirements

Stand for extended periods of time and move throughout the store in order to provide excellent customer service, including providing services and beauty consulting, and perform other task work such as stocking and facing product displays and updating advertising promotions.

Able to stoop, kneel or crouch, and able to reach or grasp objects, including objects on lower shelves. 
</li><li>
Able to perform duties requiring manual dexterity (e.g., hair styling, makeup applications, ear piercing).
