The Director, Digital Marketing is Houston Zoo’s designated expert in digital marketing and engaging our customers through appropriate channels. This role develops digital marketing programs and customer engagement strategies leveraging owned media/web properties, SEM/SEO, email campaigns, social media, email marketing tools and other digital channels. This position is also responsible for tracking and reporting digital marketing KPIs and is expected to identify, recommend, and execute improvements for optimizing strategy, budget allocations, website, email, and social media content improvements. The incumbent has an intimate understanding of paid media and can communicate paid social planning recommendations while illustrating how this data fits into the larger social marketing mix and broader digital ecosystem. Job Duties and Responsibilities
 
<ul>
<li>Develops strategic direction for digital media planning and buying, define demand and lead generation plans, and execute growth strategies for digital channels including: SEM/ PPC, social media, Display/Retargeting, Events, Websites/SEO, email. Leads digital marketing team as a strategic coach and technical expert; partner with creative services team for development of marketing collateral to support digital marketing performance plans; guide implementation and optimization efforts for marketing analytics, tracking, testing and interpretation of results.</li>
<li>Conducts A/B tests across channels to continuously optimize campaign and channel performance. Defines and executes a digital marketing strategy that supports and extends marketing initiatives, continually evolving the strategy to remain in front of competitive threats and market shifts.</li>
<li>Manages all web properties as well as the company's internal portals and their continued enhancements.</li>
<li>Develops and executes data-driven digital marketing strategies across the full customer lifecycle, from acquisition through retention, membership growth, and re-engagement.</li>
<li>Partners with all departments to develop and execute effective digital marketing programs to drive demand, cultivate prospective customers, strengthen brand, and mission awareness.</li>
<li>Gauges digital marketing initiative effectiveness using available analytics tools and make recommendations for marketing campaign optimization based on those results.</li>
<li>Manages digital vendor relationships and supervises SEM/SEO and paid digital media activity. Consistently explore new vendors, technologies, platforms, and digital marketing solutions.</li>
<li>Provides recommendations to marketing leadership on how to expand digital marketing capability including talent, skills, tools, and platforms to maximize the digital channel reach and effectiveness.</li>
<li>Leads implementation, optimization, and ongoing governance of marketing automation and CRM platforms (e.g., HubSpot), including email journeys, segmentation, lead nurturing, and integrations with ticketing and e-commerce systems.</li>
<li>Ensures Houston Zoo website is constantly up to date with fresh, relevant content.</li>
<li>Ensures the website is safe and secure by monitoring site security vulnerabilities and acting to address them.</li>
<li>Works with outside web developers to resolve technical issues that arise with the website, blog, and related sites.</li>
<li>Works with IS Application Support to ensure the best possible user experience between Houston Zoo website and the zoo’s e-commerce platform.</li>
<li>Trains new website users and manages groups of existing users.</li>
<li>Contributes to saving animals in the wild through: reduction of waste, water and energy use and inspiring guests and staff to take wildlife protection actions.</li>

Education and Experience
 
<ul>
<li>BS degree in Marketing or related field</li>
<li>Eight (8) years’ work experience in digital marketing</li>
<li>Strong digital marketing competencies (website, SEM/SEO, social media, email campaigns) and proven ability to run digital marketing campaigns that deliver meaningful marketing and business results and improve the user experience.</li>
<li>Experience with marketing automation and CRM platforms (HubSpot preferred), including lifecycle marketing, segmentation, and performance reporting.</li>
<li>Proven track record of exceeding goals and reporting on performance and insights.</li>
<li>Knowledge of digital advertising tools and analytics platforms (e.g., AdWords Campaign Manager, Google Analytics, etc.)</li>
<li>Experience with cross-channel and/or full-funnel strategies, including traditional and digital advertising, direct response programs, email, website development, mobile, search, eCommerce, and social media.</li>

The Digital Marketing Manager role directly manages central programs and additionally consults franchisees on local digital marketing plans and solutions. The Digital Marketing Manager is responsible for developing, implementing and executing the brand&rsquo;s digital experience, both inside and outside the store as well as behind the scenes. What you&rsquo;ll be doing
As digital extends into almost every facet of marketing, so does the Digital Marketing Manager. Key responsibilities include, but are not limited to: 
 
<ul><li>Leading the digital media planning process for the national advertising plan, including programmatic, paid media channels and premium digital sponsorships which may include tactics including paid search, online video, digital audio, display, social media, influencer marketing and other programs.
</li><li>Managing and continually optimizing all websites, microsites and franchisee resource webpages including continually optimizing a consistent UX-UI experience across the digital platforms, both for consumers and franchisees
</li><li>Owning the SEO &amp; Paid Search strategy and execution &ndash; implement and monitor SEO strategies to improve organic visibility and rankings and manage paid search campaigns including keyword strategy, bid optimization and performance reporting.
</li><li>Digital Media planning, Performance management, optimization and deployment of all performance media channels (Paid search, digital video etc.)

What we offer
The base salary range for this position is $122,000 - $182,000 per year. Individual pay will be based on various factors, such as relevant work experience, education, certifications, skill level, seniority, and internal equity.
For regular full-time or regular part-time employees of the Company (participating companies as listed in the Summary Plan Description), insurance coverage options include medical, dental, vision coverage, life Insurance, Business Travel Accident Insurance, and Occupational Accidental Death Benefit programs. Employees also participate in a company pension plan and a 401(k) plan. Paid leave includes up to 6 weeks of paid vacation time, up to 11 paid holidays, and parental leave offering 16 weeks of paid leave for birthing parents, and 8 weeks of paid leave for non-birthing parents.
Additionally, employees are eligible for short-term disability leave for up to 26 weeks at 100% or 50% of base pay as well as Long-Term Disability insurance. Shell also offers other compensation such financial reimbursement for adoption, wellness, education, and personal learning expenses, and some roles are eligible for discretionary long-term incentives.
