The Employment Law Unit provides direct representation of the FBI in personnel-related administrative hearings and coordinates the FBI's representation in civil suits arising from personnel-related matters. This position is one of three OGC ELU attorneys embedded within the Human Resources Division (HRD), providing legal advice on all facets of civil service and personnel law. OGC counsel are key legal advisors to the HRD management team. GS-14
 <ul>
<li>Provide legal advice for developing and implementing strategies for employee hiring and retention. Ensure compliance with the EEOC Uniform Guidelines on Employee Selection Procedures throughout FBI hiring and promotions.</li>
<li>Provide legal advice to managers regarding compliance with federal employment discrimination statutes, FBI whistleblower protections, worker's compensation, employee leave, medical absences and reasonable accommodation issues. Provide legal advice concerning the agency's medical fitness for duty program.</li>
<li>Review all FBI non-disciplinary adverse personnel actions (performance, attendance, fitness for duty) for legal compliance.</li>
<li>Monitor compliance and provide legal advice regarding the Fair Labor Standards Act and wage and hour matters. Provide legal advice on General Schedule compensation and benefits, especially as applied to law enforcement officers. Conduct investigations and provide legal advice concerning OPM pay and leave claims, classification appeals, travel claims and claims involving overseas allowances.</li>
<li>Provide legal advice on USERRA, military leave and veteran's rights in hiring and retention. Represent the FBI before the Department of Labor in matters of veterans' preference and veterans' rights.</li>
<li>Serve as a key member of HRD crisis management teams, such as continuity of operations, pandemic planning, government shutdowns, and natural & manmade disasters.</li>
<li>Provide legal advice to all levels of HRD management. Draft and review HRD and FBI-wide employment policies. Identify, review, and mitigate HRD legal risks.</li>

The Employment Law Unit in the FBI's Office of General Counsel provides legal guidance and represents the FBI in personnel-related litigation matters. Job Description

Social Services provided are also geared toward promoting understanding, positive feeling and attitudes concerning illness and resolution of adult abuse and related social problems.
Provide individual and family-centered social services engaging individuals/families in problem-solving to strengthen their capacities for coping more effectively with the health, social, financial, environmental, and emotional stresses that threaten their stability and functioning in their particular circumstances. Utilize differentially the professional social work methods of case work and the professional techniques of individual psycho-social assessment and interviewing, crisis intervention, time limited therapy, family therapy and consultation in work with clients, staff: and community. Initiate and coordinate community relations work by establishing outreach education programs with social service agencies, community groups, advocacy groups, and professional associations for the purpose of providing understanding related to adult abuse and its prevention and remediation and maintenance of dependent adults in the least restrictive environment.
Qualifications and Education
Degree: Social Work. Must fulfill all the requirements for the master's degree in social work in a school accredited by the Council on Social Work Education.
Specialized Experience: Specialized experience is experience that equipped the applicant with the particular knowledge, skills, and abilities to successfully perform the duties of the position, and that is typically in or related to the work of the position to be filled.
