Job Description
As part of Playground's engineering team, you will be responsible for building new products from zero-to-one across the full stack, from the APIs and backend services that power our platform, to the frontend experiences that delight our users. You'll play a critical role in shaping the future of child care, working directly on products relied on by thousands of child care businesses, agencies, and government organizations.
This role spans the entire stack. You'll own projects end-to-end: designing and scaling core backend systems, building performant and maintainable frontend features, and everything in between. We're looking for self-starters who thrive on ownership, operate with urgency, and are excited to use modern AI coding tools to dramatically increase their leverage and output.
Responsibilities<ul><li>
Collaborate with a cross-functional team to design and build features end to end with a strong focus on customer needs and product impact</li><li>

Experience designing and maintaining RESTful APIs in production environments.</li><li>

About You

Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field (or equivalent experience)
 
10+ years of professional full-stack development experience with a strong focus on backend systems
 
Proficiency in backend technologies (Node.js, Python, or Go) and API design
 
Strong understanding of RESTful APIs, database design, and data modeling
 
Experience with SQL and NoSQL databases
 
Familiarity with containerization and orchestration platforms (Docker, Kubernetes) and hyperscalers (AWS, GCP, etc.)
 
Proficiency in TypeScript and React for frontend work
 
Foundation in distributed systems, event-driven architectures, and web fundamentals
 
Strong communication and collaboration skills
 
Self-starting problem-solving approach biased towards action and scope minimization

Experience with microservices architecture and message queues
 
Understanding of CI/CD fundamentals and experience working in single-tenant architectures

As a Senior Software Engineer, Full Stack at Thomson Reuters - Noetica, you'll help build robust backend systems and APIs that power our search-centric web experience that&rsquo;s core to the workflow of our end users. This role is backend-leaning &mdash; you'll spend most of your time on server-side architecture, data processing, and API design, while also contributing to frontend features as needed. You will collaborate with a talented team of AI/ML PhDs, legal SMEs, and market strategists to design, build, and maintain scalable backend services.
