As a Janitor, you will be responsible for maintaining cleanliness and sanitation in various settings, utilizing core skills such as cleaning, floor care, and commercial cleaning. Your janitorial experience and custodial expertise will be essential in ensuring a safe and hygienic environment. Additionally, your relevant skills in facilities maintenance and industrial cleaning will contribute to the overall upkeep of the premises. With a high school diploma or GED and a background in janitorial work, you will play a vital role in preserving the cleanliness and functionality of the facilities.
Duties:<ul><li>
Maintains cleanliness of offices, hallways, restrooms; achieves satisfaction and quality standards for room and common area cleaning.</li><li>
Performs rounds, removes clutter, empties trash, refreshes restrooms.</li><li>
Cleans common area space and waiting areas in facility.</li><li>
Cleans and sanitizes equipment as assigned.</li><li>
Performs other duties as assigned.</li></ul>
Requirements:<ul><li>
Previous janitorial experience is highly desired.</li><li>
High School Diploma or possession of an acceptable equivalency diploma.</li><li>
Must be able to read and write english</li><li>
Must be a self starter, punctual and reliable person willing to be a team player at all times.</li><li>
Nationwide background check</li><li>
Lifting of heavy supplies and materials.</li><li>
Experience operating large motorized housekeeping equipment a Plus!</li><li>
Stripping and waxing floors experience a Plus!</li><li>
This is a federal facility and a REAL ID is required for entry</li></ul>

<div>Set Pay Rate: $25.47 per hour

Shift: 10:00pm-6:00am

Required to work weekends!

Shift: Sunday, Monday, Thursday, Friday and Saturday. Off Tuesday, Wednesday

Performs manual labor associated with daily cleaning and all aspects in the utilization of mechanical equipment : Buffing, Waxing, and Stripping floors.

Essential General Functions:
<ul><li>Comply with all Agency policies and procedures and follow contract specifications</li>
<li>Comply with uniform dress code and personal hygiene standards</li>
<li>Comply with utilization and fit testing for proper PPE use for the job task</li>
<li>Clean all assigned areas in accordance with contract specifications</li>
<li>Prepare all areas before beginning the assignment by removing loose objects</li>
<li>Ensure all needed equipment, cleaners, wet floor signs are utilized</li>
<li>Use all equipment following safety precautions and in intended manner</li>
<li>Complete a final inspection after use of equipment and report any issues found</li>
<li>Empty and clean machines after use</li>
<li>Prepare, use, and care for equipment according to manufacturer&rsquo;s directions</li>
<li>Perform preventative maintenance check on equipment before and after use</li>
<li>Follow all safety rules and procedures when using any equipment</li>
<li>Move furniture/equipment to gain access as needed</li>
<li>Mix and measure chemicals safely</li>
<li>Use Clorox 360 sprayers or other disinfecting hand held equipment</li>
<li>Maintain control of the sprayer and only in the direction of intended use</li>
<li>Remove residual residue from overspray</li>
<li>Remove trash in specific areas when required</li>
<li>Comply with MAA&rsquo;s rules for the site, security and safety guidelines and Chimes Rules For The Workplace</li>
<li>Comply with BWI Security Procedures for unescorted access privileges to the Security Identification Display Area (SIDA)</li>
<li>Pass and comply with all building and security requirements and procedures</li></ul> 


Essential Floor Maintenance Functions:
<ul><li>Sweep and mop stairwells to ensure area is clean and free of debris</li>
<li>Strip, seal, wax, burnish, &amp; buff floors</li>
<li>Use low speed and high speed rotary floor machines and ride on floor machines</li>
<li>Use scrubbers, burnishers, buffers, strippers, extractors &amp; wet vacs, vacuum cleaners, pressure washer, steamers.</li></ul> 


Essential Lift Operator Functions:
<ul>
<li>Perform specific project work to involve high cleaning at the BWI Airport Complex, to include the following areas: wall items, ticket kiosks, slats and walls, signage, vents, light lenses, beams, arches, ledges, and Security Check Point items</li>
<li>Clean all areas responsible for from ceiling to floor</li>
<li>Hand scrub wall surfaces with a disinfectant cleaner or powder and a scrub brush</li>
<li>Keep window sills, ledges, vertical surfaces, corners, crevices and moldings free of dust</li>
<li>Do emergency cleaning</li></ul> 


Essential Glass Cleaning/Bright Work Functions:
<ul>
<li>Maintain all glass and brightwork surfaces in accordance with the contract specifications.</li>
<li>Clean glass panes, ledges and landings</li>
<li>Cleans glass partitions, mirrors and other glass surfaces</li>
<li>Dry surfaces with cloth, squeegee or chamois</li>
<li>Maintain supplies and equipment on cart</li>
<li>Move furniture/equipment to gain access as needed</li>
<li>Follow all safety rules and procedures</li></ul> 


Secondary Functions:
<ul>
<li>Assist with inventory</li>
<li>Perform general custodial duties as needed</li>
<li>Keep records and provide requested reports</li>
<li>Perform other duties and tasks as needed</li></ul>

Physical Abilities Needed to Meet Work Demands:
<ul>
<li>Ability to stand or walk continuously for long periods of time</li>
<li>Ability to go up and down stairs</li>
<li>Ability to reach above the head, bend, kneel, stoop</li>
<li>Ability to operate controls</li>
<li>Ability to lift, carry, and push up to 50 lbs. regularly and 75 &ndash; 100 pounds with assistance</li>
<li>Ability to work in dusty spaces or adverse weather conditions</li></ul>

Essential Personnel:
This position is designated as essential. This means that when the facility is faced

with an institutional emergency, employees in this position may be required to remain at their

work location or to report to work to protect, recover, and continue operations at the facility. 


Education:
<ul>
<li>High School diploma or equivalent preferred</li>
<li>Floor Technician training desired</li>
<li>Knowledge of floor finishes, applications, and removals</li>
<li>Knowledge of floor care equipment</li>
<li>Knowledge of all types of mechanical equipment used at site</li>
</ul>
Experience:
<ul>
<li>Six months of Floor Technician experience preferred</li>
<li>Previous experience operating needed machinery preferred</li>
<li>Six months of Custodial experience</li>
<li>Candidates with disabilities preferred</li></ul>
