Provides secretarial and clinical support to physicians and surgeons in a faculty practice setting.
Responsibilities
1. May schedule appointments for patients.
2. Take detailed clinical phone messages for physician or advanced allied healthcare provider.
3. Acquire insurance authorizations for procedures and tests ordered by attending physician.
4. May enter orders into the electronic medical record (EMR) system or prepare prescription refill requests on behalf of the physician for the review and approval by the ordering physician.
5. Maintain logging system as required for tracking test results.
6. Assist in the maintenance of medical charts and/or electronic medical record (filing, Op Reports, test results, home care forms).
7. May schedule surgeries/procedures or work in conjunction with Surgical Coordinator verifying times with patients; preparing charts, pre-admissions and consent forms as necessary.
8. May be responsible for Medical Assistant duties if qualified, such as performing venipuncture and/or EKGs, checking schedules and organizing patient flow; accompanying patients to exam/procedure room, assisting patients as needed with walking, transferring and dressing, as well as collecting and processing specimens and point of care testing, preparing for exam, etc. May assist physicians with various procedures, takes vital signs, relays instructions to patients and or families; answers calls and provides pertinent information.
9. Retrieve physician correspondence from dictation service, edit where necessary.
10. Prepare physicians mail correspondence.
11. May function as medical scribe.
12. Compile documents for surgical billing packages
13. May maintain, adjust and confirm patient office schedule.
14. Help direct patient flow during practice hours.
15. Performs other duties as assigned.

The Offsite Medical Secretary II provides secretarial support to the supervising physician in an offsite practice setting. Responsibilities include telephones, reception, patient scheduling, obtain auth/precertification and maintenance of medical records, as assigned. Prepare stat reports and maintain up to date logs and provide follow up. Work directly with Supervisor and Administration to maintain physician schedule up to date on daily basis.

Compensation
The Mount Sinai Health System (MSHS) provides salary ranges that comply with the New York City Law on Salary Transparency in Job Advertisements. The salary range for the role is $26.2377 - $32.727 Hourly. Actual salaries depend on a variety of factors, including experience, education, and operational need. Medical Administrative Assistant - Orthopedics West (Roosevelt)

<div>Description
Performs secretarial and general office support involving word processing, typing, telephone reception, mail distribution and record and file maintenance. Typically services are provided for an assigned department, care center or nursing unit. 
Responsibilities
1. Answers telephone, screens callers, relay messages and greets visitors.

2. Opens, sorts and prioritizes mail. Picks up and delivers materials as required.

3. Maintains records through filing, retrieval, retention, storage, coding, updating and destruction.

4. Types routine correspondence, memos, reports, minutes and other documents from dictation or handwritten copy. Proofreads typed materials and makes corrections, as needed.

5. May screen and schedule patient appointments, schedule referrals of special testing or doctors visits, and keep record of patient billing for submission.

6. Makes travel, accommodation and/or transportation arrangements.

7. Schedules and maintains calendar for meetings and/or appointments.
