We&rsquo;re looking for a compassionate and detail-oriented Medication Technician (Med Tech) to join our Assisted Living team. In this vital role, you&rsquo;ll assist residents with medications and ensure accuracy and safety in all medication systems under the direction of a Registered Nurse (RN) Delegator. As a Med Tech, you&rsquo;ll work closely with nurses, CNAs, and other team members to support our residents&rsquo; health and well-being&mdash;delivering exceptional care with professionalism, empathy, and teamwork.
What You&rsquo;ll Do
<ul><li>Accurately manage and administer medications and treatments in accordance with physician orders, policies, and regulations.</li>
<li>Document medication administration, effectiveness, and any side effects per established procedures.</li>
<li>Protect residents&rsquo; rights and ensure confidentiality during all aspects of medication delivery.</li>
<li>Transcribe new or changed orders into the electronic health record MAR within scope of practice.</li>
<li>Maintain secure storage and accountability for all medications, including controlled substances.</li>
<li>Ensure appropriate and timely reporting of any change in condition to nursing staff.</li>
<li>Communicate effectively with other licensed staff, physicians, other disciplines, families and administrative staff regarding resident status, medication refusals and/or changes in resident condition.</li>
<li>Order all new and renewal medications, including those needed for treatment(s).</li>
<li>Upon discharge or expiration of resident, ensure all scheduled and controlled substances, open liquids, and injectables are collected and disposed of as prescribed by law.</li>
<li>Maintain a clean work environment, especially as it relates to medication rooms and carts.</li>
<li>Follow all safety, infection control, and emergency procedures, including proper PPE use and participation in drills.</li>
<li>Assist with information gathering and documentation for incidents.</li>
<li>Follow all infection control policies and procedures.</li>
<li>Perform CNA job duties as assigned by supervisor or designee.</li>

The primary responsibility of the Registered Nurse (RN) is to provide comprehensive patient care, including assessing residents, administering medications, monitoring health, and coordinating care with other healthcare professionals, while also supervising nursing staff.
Essential Duties and Job Responsibilities<ul><li>
Patient Assessment and Care Planning:</li><li>
Conduct thorough assessments of residents' physical, cognitive, and emotional needs.
</li><li>Develop and implement individualized care plans in collaboration with the interdisciplinary team, including physicians, therapists, and other healthcare professionals.
</li><li>Regularly evaluate and update care plans based on residents' changing needs and responses to interventions.
</li><li>Medication Administration and Monitoring:</li><li>
Administer medications and treatments as prescribed by physicians, ensuring accuracy and safety.
</li><li>Monitor residents' responses to medications and treatments, documenting any adverse effects or changes in condition.
</li><li>Vital Signs and Health Monitoring:</li><li>
Monitor and document vital signs, such as temperature, pulse, respiration, and blood pressure.
</li><li>Observe residents for any signs of illness or changes in condition and promptly report any concerns to the physician.
</li><li>Wound Care and Other Specialized Care:</li><li>
Collaborate with wound care specialists or other healthcare professionals to ensure optimal wound healing.
</li><li>Supervision and Training:</li><li>
Supervise and provide guidance to licensed practical nurses (LPNs) and certified nursing assistants (CNAs).
</li><li>Provide orientation and training for new staff members.
</li><li>Communication and Documentation:</li><li>
Maintain accurate and complete documentation of residents' care, including assessments, interventions, and evaluations.
</li><li>Communicate effectively with residents, families, and other healthcare professionals.
</li><li>Participate in interdisciplinary team meetings to coordinate care and address resident needs.
</li><li>Quality Improvement:</li><li>
Participate in quality improvement initiatives to ensure the delivery of high-quality care.
</li>Stay current with best practices and evidence-based guidelines for nursing care in skilled nursing facilities.

Requirements 
<ul><li>
Must possess a nursing degree from an accredited college or university.</li><li>
Must possess a current, unencumbered, active license to practice as an RN in this state. BSN preferred.</li><li>
Must maintain and have an active CPR/BLS during employment.</li><li>
Prefer experience in long term care, geriatric rehab, sub-acute and or critical care clinical setting.</li>
Experience in electronic medical records documentation.
