There is an occupational risk for exposure to TB, as this position involves extensive community and patient contact. Employees in this role are required to comply with annual TB testing as part of workplace health and safety protocols. Employees who decline TB testing will be required to wear a mask when deemed necessary.

Location: Gateway Foundation River North (Outpatient) - 415 North Dearborn Street Suite 510 Chicago, IL 60654 
Work schedule: Monday through Friday from either 8:00am-4:30pm or 8:30am-5:00pm 
Outpatient Substance Abuse Counselors (CADC, LPC or LSW) are responsible for:<ul><li>
Completing comprehensive assessments of clients&rsquo; substance abuse history and treatment requirements and preparing individualized, developmentally appropriate treatment plans</li><li>
Providing individual and group counseling and educational programs in accordance with treatment plans</li><li>
Documenting treatment and discharge plans and clients&rsquo; progress and responses to treatment, as well as maintaining related records and charts</li><li>
Performing case management and contributing to client care monitoring</li><li>
Caseload typically includes some complex cases requiring more intensive services</li><li>
Other duties as assigned</li></ul> 
Job Requirements:<ul><li>
Bachelor&rsquo;s degree in a related field or equivalent education and life experience, with a minimum of 100 hours of documented clinical training in counseling theory and practice required</li><li>
Current certification as a substance abuse counselor (CADC) or higher licensure (Licensed Professional Counselor/LPC, Licensed Social Worker/LSW) in state of hire required</li><li>
Minimum 2 years of previous experience in substance abuse or mental health counseling required</li><li>
Related work experience with program specific population (adolescent/adult) and outpatient treatment setting required</li></ul> 
Physical Requirements:<ul><li>
Ability to walk and move about the facilities for up to two hours at a time, to monitor and interact with clients</li><li>
Exerting up to 10 pounds of force occasionally and/or negligible amount of force frequently or constantly to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects.</li><li>
Ability to use a keyboard and video display terminal to receive, retrieve, and/or audit information and data</li><li>
Ability to record, proofread and check documents and files for accuracy</li><li>
Ability to respond to telephones, and to hear and detect alarms and unusual noises</li><li>
Must be at least 21 years of age to operate a Gateway vehicle</li></ul>

<li>Bachelor's degree or higher in social work or a closely related field of study.</li>

<li>Licensed currently or in the process of obtaining an IL state school support personnel (SSP) social worker endorsement.</li>
<li>Ability to obtain and maintain certification in company approved crisis management training.</li>
<li>Prior experience providing social work services for children, preferably in an alternative, special education and/or behavioral health program setting.</li>
<li>Prior experience and/or knowledge in alternative educational services for at-risk students with diverse needs at various levels.</li>
<li>Highly skilled in working with children with severe learning disabilities, emotional disturbance and/or behavioral challenges.</li>
<li>Prior experience and/or highly knowledgeable in working with students with individualized education plans (IEP's).</li>
<li>Well-versed in applied behavior analysis (ABA) including positive behavior interventions and supports (PBIS), effective teaching strategies, classroom management systems, data-based decision making, functional behavior assessment (FBA) and behavior intervention plans (BIP's).</li>
<li>Highly skilled in building and maintaining effective relationships with students, parents, teachers and community and/or district partners.</li>
<li>Ability to think and act quickly and calmly in an emergency situation and make independent decisions.</li>
<li>Advanced oral and written communication, organization, conflict resolution, multitasking, problem solving, and decision-making ability.</li>
<li>Knowledge of relevant technology including experience with computers, Microsoft Office Suite, database entry and basic office equipment.</li></ul>
