The Patient Care Technician &ldquo;PCT&rdquo; provides basic care to patients, performing all job functions in an ethical manner and ensuring patient safety, privacy, dignity, and confidentiality. This role also provides daily comfort measures and interactions with patients to create a positive care environment and experience. The PCT coordinates patient care with the Registered Nurse (RN), including effectively observing and communicating changes in patients&rsquo; conditions to the RN and responding appropriately to emergency situations.<br>

Approximately 10% of all dialysis patients reside in a SNF and are transported to dialysis three times a week placing a significant burden on patients and adding significant avoidable costs to the health care system. DSD Services teammates will have access to all the capabilities and resources DaVita has to offer, and will work to quickly leverage these to develop the infrastructure and rapidly grow the new service line. Ideal teammates will have significant experience within DaVita, get energized by a start-up type environment and improving the lives of patients, and have a track record of finding ways to GSD. Teammates must be comfortable working autonomously and have demonstrated the ability to collaborate with cross-functional resources across the Village.</p><p></p><p><b>
What you can expect:</b></p><p>
In this role, you take responsibility for the complete ongoing care of each patient to ensure their dialysis treatment stays on track. PCTs will work in conjunction with dialysis RNs to provide dialysis care.</p><p><b>
Patient Care:</b> Spending the majority of your day in direct one-on-one patient care to provide safe, comfortable and hygienic dialysis treatment.</p><p><b>
Complexity: </b>DSD Dialysis care is a complex but fulfilling service line. Meeting and/or exceeding clinical outcomes are the goals and multitasking is an expectation to meet the needs of the service, the patients and our SNF partners.

</div><div>We're seeking a <b>Patient Care Technician for Emory University Hospital </b>responsible for being a capable certified technician who cares about the quality of their work an ensuring the safety for all patients.</div><div>
This individual will:<br>
</div><div></div><ul><li>Performs assigned patient care and observation duties under the direction of a Registered Nurse and/or LPN, including but not limited to: cleaning the patient's room, operating various clinical equipment, helping with emergencies, assisting with patient procedures, collecting and transporting patient specimens and completing applicable forms.</li><li>
Maintains hospital and unit-specific competencies.</li><li>
Assists in emergency situations as directed by an RN/LPN.</li><li>
Ensures that prescribed measures related to hygiene, comfort, and rest are provided.</li><li>
Complies with Standard Precautions guidelines, Infection Control procedures, and safety standards to maintain and promote a clean and healthy work environment.</li><li>
Assists in the use of bag-valve-mask device, anti-embolism stockings, pneumatic compression stockings, oxygen, suction equipment, incentive spirometer, emergency cart and bedside glucose monitoring machine.</li><li>
Operates converter chair, lifts, scales, beds, stretchers, wheelchairs, non-invasive BP monitors, automatic thermometer, sphygmomanometer, pulse oximeter, and computers.</li></ul><div><b><br>
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
</b></div><ul><li>A high school diploma or equivalent.</li><li>
BLS required.</li><li>
Must meet one of the following requirements:</li><li><ul><li>
One year of direct patient care experience,</li><li>
Successful completion of a nursing assistant training course</li><li>
Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) license through State of Georgia, OR</li><li>

Transports patients and patient specimens throughout the hospital as needed.</li><li>
Contributes to the completion of patient admission, transfer, and discharge.</li><li>
Assists with postmortem care.</li><li>
Utilizes appropriate technology to complete all related processes.</li><li>
Participates in unit-based and system-wide Performance Improvement program as required by department leadership.</li><li>
Serves as a resource/model through compliance with standards of care and with Department of Nursing and Hospital policies and procedures.</li><li>
May participate in research projects impacting patient care areas.</li><li>
Participates in the orientation of nursing support assistants to the unit.</li><li>
Performs other related responsibilities as required.</li></ul><div>
