<ul><li>Review, draft, and negotiate lease-out agreements, licenses, and other real estate-related legal documents involving City-owned properties or acquisition thereof.</li><li>Conduct legal research and prepare memoranda on matters related to property law, landlord-tenant law, and real estate transactions.</li><li>Support the Managing Counsel and Deputy General Counsel in developing and implementing policies and processes that advance DCAS&rsquo;s real estate strategy.</li><li>Participate in meetings with internal clients (such as RES staff) and external stakeholders to provide legal input and ensure accurate documentation.</li><li>Coordinate with the NYC Law Department on routine matters and support the Managing Counsel in litigation preparation or document production as needed.</li><li>Track deadlines, review documents for legal sufficiency, and ensure compliance with applicable laws, rules, and procedures.</li><li>Perform Line of Service (LOS) general legal intake attorney rotation matters.</li><li>Perform other legal and administrative duties as assigned by the Managing Counsel or Deputy General Counsel.</li></ul><br>

Minimum Qualifications</b></p><p><br>
1. Admission to the New York State Bar; and either &quot;2&quot; or &quot;3&quot; below.

2. One year of satisfactory United States legal experience subsequent to admission to any state bar; or

3. Six months of satisfactory service as an Agency Attorney Interne (30086).
<br>
Incumbents must remain Members of the New York State Bar in good standing for the duration of this employment.

In addition to meeting the minimum Qualification Requirements:

To be assigned to Assignment Level (AL) II, candidates must have one year of experience at Assignment Level I or two years of comparable legal experience subsequent to admission to the bar, in the areas of law related to the assignment. To be assigned to AL III candidates must have two years of experience in Assignment Levels I and/or II or three years of comparable legal experience subsequent to admission to the bar, in the areas of law related to the assignment.</p><p><b><br>
Preferred Skills</b></p><br>
- JD from an accredited institution and a minimum of 8 years post-bar legal experience or the equivalent required. - Experience working with commercial real estate in New York City required. - Experience in negotiating commercial real estate leases from start to finish, with a demonstrated understanding of real estate financing and capital construction strongly preferred. - Strong interpersonal and leadership skills. - Ability to independently act on priority projects. - Demonstrable ability to move projects from inception through operationalization in a timely manner. - Ability to prioritize and complete work assignments in a timely manner. - Ability to exercise critical, analytical, and problem-solving skills in a fast-paced environment and at times with extreme sensitivity.<br>
